Thyroid disorders
Well I got a phone call this moring at 7:30 am from my RE with my blood results from my thyroid panel. On CD 3 my TSH was 7.11 so he sent me for more testing, turns out he thinks I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis based on the second set of results, and is sending the results to me so I can take them to my GP and get medicine. Anyone else have thyroid issues? I am annoyed because supposedly my OBGYN tested my TSH levels after my second M/C in July and said everything was normal. Can a thrriod problem come on that suddenly, or did my OBGYN just miss it?

Re: Thyroid disorders
I don't know how long it takes for the onset of an issue with TSH, but I know for myself, my levels were tested when I was pregnant, 3 years ago, and they were normal, and yet, about 6 months ago, bloodwork with my RE showed that my levels were off as well - I think the first one came back at 8.5 and the second came back over 9.
The good news is that it is easily remedied with medication (synthroid) - I was amazed too, by how much better I felt within a few short weeks of taking it.

Re: Thyroid disorders
I hope this is the reason for my tiredness, I can not stay awake. For the last month especially I fall asleep for over an hour when I get home from work, even sitting up!!

I used to feel the same way. Within about a month of taking Synthroid I feel so much better, much more energized, and my mood has stabilized a LOT.

Re: Thyroid disorders
My sister has Hashimotos. Have you done your research? It is actually more than just a hypo/hyperactive thyroid; it is an autoimmune disease. My sister also did not know she had it until after she had her second child. Her thyroid levels had come back normal before. Tiredness is a definite symptom of Hashimotos, as are weight fluctuation, feeling cold, and hair loss. If you have any questions about it, I have learned alot and would be happy to answer you as best as I can.

Re: Thyroid disorders
I have Hashimoto's as well--it came on out of nowhere when I was 19.
But the GOOD news is that it's VERY MANAGEABLE. Your Dr. will find the right dose of Synthroid for you, and you'll start to feel much better!

Re: Thyroid disorders
autoammune diseases run in my family, my mother has lupus and my two aunts (mom's sisters) also have other autoimmune diseases, and my dad has a thyroid problem, but I am not sure what, he is on synthroid.
