Thyroid issues and/or PCOS?
I got a call back from my doctor regarding my blood test results. He said that all my hormone levels were normal except for my thyroid. Its slightly below normal. I've had my thyroid tested every year for a few years as I've always suspected a low thyroid but it always comes back normal. My doc said that at a regular physical, the ranges are different, so according to his range, I am below normal.
So, he wants me to make an appt with an endocrinologist who works with his practice (I made it for 7/10) to see what he thinks. My doc said that the low thyroid could cause all of my symptoms, including irregular cycles and cystic ovaries. He seems to think that I might just need to start on a low dose of Synthroid and all will be normal.
I'm still just so confused about all this. So, do I have PCOS or could it just be my thyroid? Do I have both and how are they connected? Its all so confusing!
Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Thyroid issues and/or PCOS?
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was a teenager, but always had a normal thyroid. My RE discovered that at this point, my thyroid is under active. He put me on synthroid and has been steadily increasing my dosage because there was no real improvement. I am up to 150 micrograms and hopefully this is it and it is under control. It is amazing how intricate the endocrine system is, and how hard it seems to make things balanced if something is off.
Good luck to you!!!
