in an article I read, people said these guys were taunting all the animals all day through out the zoo- there were complaints.
I feel bad for the tiger- its a wild animal.
I dont feel bad for the kid- he knows better!
when I went to the long island game zoo out east, I witnessed a 7 year old boy picking up rocks and hitting these birds with them and the father watched him not saying a word until I said something real loud for everyone to hear!
maybe this will send a message out there to idiots who get a rise out of taunting animals to stop!

These are not kids.
They're 24, 19 and 17 and they got drunk and stoned -- on Christmas Day -- and went to the zoo and climbed on the railing and yelled and waved at the tiger. Who does that??? Who climbs on the railing at a zoo??? What did they think would happen? Do you think they considered the safety of the other zoo visitors?
i agree with you
I definitely think the zoo is at fault for the wall not being high enough
and i do feel terrible that someone is dead but really what do you expect when you are taunting a wild animal,
my first reaction to hearing this story was what did they do to the tiger, animals usually don't just attack, they attack when provoked

yes, they are bad people for taunting a tiger, but that kid didn't deserve to die.
This:
the tiger leaped or climbed out of the enclosure, which had a wall 4 feet shorter than the recommended minimum
baffles me- why would regulations be "recommended" and not "mandated"?
The zoo is still to blame.
They are human and made a bad decision....the TIGER is a wild animal that CAN NOT make a decision. Cause and effect...torment a tiger get ate.....It's pretty simple

I agree the was should have been higher. So the zoo is at fault for that one. However, if that kid wasn't dangling his legs over the side and taunting the tiger, then this wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Did the tiger really need to be killed? Why couldn't they have tranquilized him? That animal died because of someone's stupidity.
A tranquilizer gun wouldn't have made the tiger stop immediately. They killed him so he wouldn't kill someone else. He was mauling one of the other guys. I put value over human life over an animals life any day regardless of the circumstances.

Granted they taunted the tiger, the tiger should not have been able to escape regardless.
