I always wonder this. My cousin has done my hair at home and charges the same as in the salon...it's all profit except for the color she purchases, but never know if I have to tip on top.

Absolutely, even if they're the owner. While an employee might not keep the full amount, a business owner has plenty they need to pay out as well. They're not just keeping the full amount. I prefer to tip on a job well done, no matter if they're owner or employee. It's merely to show appreciation.

I think it depends what services you are having done and what they charge. I would absolutely tip if they came to my house they are going out of their way for me

I never understood this. In fact, I hate it. The person is still doing you a service and at your home to boot. Of course tipping them is the right thing to do.
