Tipping the Mailman
Our mailman seems to always leave the top of the mailbox open and when it rains - everything gets drenched...
Will not giving him a Christmas tip make him even more careless with the mail? Could I leave him a note and ask him to make sure he closes the top? I don't want to p i s s him off, but I certainly don't feel he deserves a tip....
We just moved in on 11/1.
Opinions?

Re: Tipping the Mailman
I personally would not leave a tip. Our mailman does the same thing and our mail has been soaked on several occasions, therefore he will not be receiving a tip. If I see that he is mishandling our mail because of not receiving a tip, he will be reported to the post office. A tip is a way of saying thank you for good service, if your mailman does a crappy job you are not obligated to tip him just because it is the holidays.
