Tips for early AM workouts at home

Just need any tips to get my butt out of bed at 5:30 or 5:45 to do a 30 min video. I can get to bed early and set my alarm and be awake at that time without a problem since I am a morning person. However, I hate the feeling of jumping out of bed and start getting my heart rate up. I move slow, drink coffee first, etc. It seems unnatural to start jumping up and down right after waking up!! I am struggling with this, too. I am doing the T-25 workout videos, and I'd like to do them early so I can shower and get on with my day. I also like to get up, have coffee, putter around a bit, etc.

The only tips I can think of (and they don't consistently work for me) is to:

1) Lay the workout clothes/sneakers out the night before. I can't get up and fumble around for everything... to much trouble!

2) I've been making coffee and then going down to workout, so I can smell it brewing, and then my reward for doing the workout early is some quiet time to myself (DH goes to work early and DS gets up later) to enjoy coffee and breakfast while I read or watch some early morning TV before I shower. Of course, if you are on a tighter schedule and running off to work early, you won't have the downtime, but at least the coffee can be your reward. No coffee until you workout!!!

I do p90X3 and do it in the morning. I wake up at 5:15. I lay my workout clothes out the night before, wake up, get dressed, brush my teeth and go downstairs to work out. It also helps my hubby leaves at 5:30 so he kicks my butt out of bed lol AFter that, I make coffee, have my protein shake take a shower and watch the news before the kids wake up

Thanks, Tracy! I am in a Facebook accountability group that my friend (who is a new Beachbody coach) started.

I like it so far. Like that it's quick.

I think the FB challenge group is motivating me to get up and try to get it done, too.

So to the OP - maybe you can find an online group or something to help you get up early consistently and stick with it.

Even simple things like putting the DVD in the player the night before could help set you up for success!

I used to do a.m. workouts at the gym, it was tough. I didn't last long though haha. But I found if I slept in my sports bra and workout top…then all I had to do was change my pants and put on shoes and was ready to go! i always felt great after getting it done so early but I did crash in the afternoons! Its hard but keep at it. Give yourself 2 week to get used to the new routine and it will get easier and easier!

I just wanted to bump this and say I did switch to setting the alarm at 5:30 and starting a workout at 5:45.

Things that help:
I must be in bed at 10 (but less time for myself after kids go to bed)

Have mat and weights set up, video in DVD player

Look forward to 15 min after workout where I drink coffee and watch news.

Feel good overall (about myself and mood at work)

My time after work before I pick up kids is freed up to prep healthy dinner

I don't do this on weekends

I go to the gym at that hour, a little earlier, and the thing that helps the best is making sure all my things are ready - gym clothes folded, out and ready to put on, kindle fully charged and on the table next to the front door, and waking up with DH since he gets up for work at that hour. I find that if I think of gym time as me time it helps a lot.

Just want to say that I am very jealous of you morning people. Until I have children, I am sticking to my 8pm workouts, I cherish sleep too much right now!
