Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
I know a lot of people say don't ice. It causes the PIO to sit there and can cause it to lump under your skin.
However, this is what I've done 3x now. The first time I did it for over 8 weeks and never had a problem. I ice for 10 minutes and at the same time, I warm the bottle of PIO in my bra. I do the shot and then massage the area.
I would try it different ways and see what works for you. I hate needles so I want to be as numb as possible and feel nothing. I can deal with a little lump.

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
I iced for only 3/4 minutes while DH held the syringe in his hand to warm up the PIO. Make sure you take the weight off the side you are injecting. Your DH should stretch the skin when doing the injection. Immeidately after, I would massage with either a warm compress, or just my hand while I walked around (the nurse told me it was important to walk around, I forget why..maybe so the muscle doesn't tense up, or so the PIO doesn't just "sit" in that spot). I never had any lumps or pain.
The only time I started to get lumps was after my BFP when I was on the PIO for another 4 weeks, but it was tolerable.

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
I never used ice ( with any of my shots actually) but I did hear that it could make the PIO pool at the injection site if you do ice , which would not be a good thing !....It really isnt anything like you would think it would feel like, not bad at all IMO My DH always massaged it for a minute or so after the shot to "work it in" and it really took quite a while for my tush to get sore, because we always alternated injection spots ...I just stood over the bathroom sink, leaned on the opposite leg of the shot and bent the knee of the injection side ! Good Luck

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
I didn't ice or heat the area or needle the first few days of giving the shot and it was not that bad. I then tried the ice once and I found it really numbed the area and I didn't even know my dh gave the shot. Every nurse told me something different to do. I am too lazy so I never did anything. Good Luck!!

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
2 nurses told me it was ok to Ice, 1 nurse was like NO WAY... NO ICE...
Bottom line... I iced it... Below is what I posed on a previous PIO shot question... Seriously it won't hurt and you won't feel a think if you follow the below! I was honestly sooooo terrified of this shot and the first day I didn't even know my DH was finished!
1 thing though... I noteiced you said PINCH in your original post... for PIO you DO NOT PINCH the skin.. you stretch it... GOOD LUCK!
If you follow my little tips below... I promise they will NOT HURT AT ALL!!!
I iced the area for 10 mins, while icing I had the PIO in the needle sitting in between a heating pad heating up, then my DH did the shot, then I would lay down on the heating pad for 10 mins! I never really felt it or felt any pain or soreness afterwards!
I also laid over the couch "doggie style" when he did the shots for me... That was entertaining by itself! hahah lol.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?
I didn't ice. I warmed up the syrnge with PIO by wrapping it in a towel and used the hair dryer. Never had a problem with it.

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?................1st PIO SHOT DONE!!!
Good Job!!!!
Put the heating pad on it afterwards.... but put a paper towel in between for the bleeding...
I sometimes didn't bleed, then sometimes I bled a little, and sometimes a lot.
Just make sure that he pulls back to make sure there is no blood in the needle.
Good Job...
I am a little nervous you might be hyperstimming... thats what happened to me... it was very painful but they gave me some meds and it went away after like 5 days...

Re: Tips for the PIO shot?................1st PIO SHOT DONE!!!
NO ICE.......I found it hurt more after and it took longer for the oil to go in. I would take a wet washcloth and put ion in the microwave to heat up. Then place it on the injection site for a few minutes, then DH shot away. It never hurt, and he said the oil went in much faster.
