Title Search...esp. through Bank of America
Hey all...we're all complete w/ our mortgage application & the only thing left is for them to do the title search. Our lawyer told us it could take 2-3 weeks, however, BofA has our closing date in less than 10 days & they are handling the title search. Has anyone had any experience w/ them...can you tell me generally how long it takes?

the standard is 2 weeks to get the report in and then a few days for your attorney to review it and ok everything.

I'm surprised your attorney let the bank order the title search. In most cases, on a purchase, the attorney orders it when the contracts are fully signed.
Anyway, if Bank of America is handling it it shouldn't take too long. I would say 1 - 2 weeks. They have an in house title company that handles reports for them.

Well our attorney said as much too..he said usually he/they do the title search but if BofA is already in process & we're okay w/ it, then he was fine w/ it.
I just don't see how BofA will honor their closing date (if they don't, it states they pay the first month's mortgage)....

That's so strange....we used BofA also, but our lawyer did the title search.
Was this a particular program where they had to do it? I would hope they would honor the closing date...especially being the "balls in their court".... I'm curious as to what they said....
