I have terrible TMJ that started after I got my wisdom teeth pulled. I went to the dentist who made me a mouth guard. $500 later I don't even use it! It would always end up on the floor or under DH by the morning. What a waste of money! My dentist told me I might have to have the surgery, but I think I am gonna try the specialist first.

I also grind my teeth SO BAD at night when I'm sleeping. I have actually woken DH out of a dead sleep with my teeth grinding. Then my teeth and jaw kill in the morning.

DH has TMJ very badly after being injured in a computer-throwing accident... long story That part always makes me laugh, but it's really not funny, he's in a lot of pain on a regular basis. He's been advised to get arthroscopic surgery, but hasn't yet.

It's encouraging to hear that some of you have been helped by seeing chiropractors & using other therapeutic devices! For those of you that have had success, how bad was your TMJ to begin with?

Iw as advised of the same thing over 10 yrs ago and have dealt with it b/c I cant afford it and it scares me.

the chiro works for me, but you have to keep going and I cant afford that either

I have TMJ and I get that clicking when I eat something hard or when I chew gum. Somtrimes I get a headache when I chew gum for too long also

The gum gets me every time!!!
