To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
DON'T!!!
I was so upset/obsessed over my weight gain and hated all of the changes that were happening to my body. I ended up gaining about 40 lbs throughout my pregnancy and it was so hard to look at the scale go up with every appointment.
Well... I just went in for my 2 week c-section incision check and of course, they had to weigh me. I am already down 30 lbs! I couldn't believe it bc I haven't done anything differently. I know that everyone is different, but I just wanted to share!
Your baby needs the weight... that's why you gain it. Once the baby is here, you can focus on losing it, but embrace it and enjoy every minute. I am only 2 weeks PP and really miss being pregnant.

I'm so happy you posted this!
I get really sad when I read so many posts about women who are upset with the scale and their bodies when they are pregnant. This is a time to celebrate life and embrace these radical and NATURAL changes to your figure. So eat the extra cookie (not 12) and relax!!!!
Thank you for posting this, Maria! You are a gorgeous, glowing, thoughtful mamma!!!

My assistant just brought me homemade xmas cookies today. I already ate one (which is more like two, because it's 2 cookies fused together with fruit filling)

I ate four cookies the other night after dinner. It was one too many so I haven't had any cookies in the past few days since then. Oops.
I did eat super spicy chicken saag last night at an Indian restaurant. It was fabulous. And I finished the entire dish.
We should start a thread with all the things we DON'T feel guilty about eating!

Re: To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
Thanks this definitely helps me to feel better. But I think I'm going to be up 60+ pounds. When the doctors got concerned; I naturally did too! Who wouldn't?!?
But it was nice of you to post this! It gives hope!!!!

My SIL gained 85 with her first and 65 with her second. She was young, too (20 and 23). But she was also tall and thin like you are and she's back down to her pre-pregnancy size. No GD either time, and her doctors weren't concerned.
Sometimes I think it's a cultural thing, too. In NY the climate is such that people are constantly worried about their weight. SIL was in upstate NY living on a military base when she had her children and no one there thought anything besides "healthy" about her, including her doctors.

That's a very good point. Maybe my doctors are just way too conservative. But I know they scared me yesterday. I never thought they would say anything about my weight. And then I was practically rushed out of the office. I found the whole thing so weird. I really didn't like how I was treated. Maybe that's the problem too!
Thanks for sharing her story though. It definitely makes me feel better!!

I totally agree with Maria, we gave birth on the same day and I also gained 40lbs.
Tomorrow is 2 weeks after my c-section and I am already down25lbs.

Re: To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
I'm up almost 40 pounds at almost 31 weeks, which scares the sh!t out of me. I was no light weight to begin with. It's just what my body wants to do and I have no control over it. The weight will come off but as long as the doctor isn't concerned and I have a healthy baby, it's not the worst thing in the world. My DH thinks I look wonderful but he has also been known to be a brown noser.

Re: To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
Thank you for posting this. Everytime I start to get panicked about gaining weight I remember what will be at the end of this journey, a sweet beautiful healthy baby!! The weight can always come off! I also know a few people who are having a really rough time TTC and my weight gain seems so inconsequentail.
Thanks again!!

Re: To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
Thank you for posting this - I truly appreciate it I am def nervous about the weight gain, but I have been my whole life. My DH keeps telling me that as soon as LO is here, we will go for nice long walks as a family every night if it will help me feel better about myself. Weight gain in general stinks but I guess we just have to keep thinking that it is def worth it in the end and it is only weight and it will come off.

Re: To the ladies who feel crumby about the weight gain...
Well said. I also gained a lot with y first child , and lost it all. While I hope not to gain as much ( I was eating 10 cookies , not 1) I am not going to stress over it, just try and eat healthy and enjoy being pregnant without putting pressure on myself regarding my weight.
