Toddler mommies (past or present) that had Carpal Tunnel surgery
It's a long shot, I know, but are there any mommies on here that had CT surgery with a 1-2 year old at home? If so, how bad was it the 1st week of recovery when you can't lift anything? Did your DC handle it well?
I'm scheduled to have my 1st hand done next Tues. & what worries me the most is how my semi-walking 14m old is going to feel when I can't pick him up all the time I'm doing my non-dominant hand 1st so hopefully it goes ok...

Re: Toddler mommies (past or present) that had Carpal Tunnel surgery
I had CT surgery on my right hand (main hand) in May 09. At that time DD was almost 3 and DS was almost 2.
It was hard the first few days, but I hired a babysitter to come help me. I had it done on a Thursday and went to work Monday (teacher).
I want to get my other hand done but have different insurance and it is covered differently.

Thanks for your reply
If you don't mind my asking, do you think that it's necessary to take off from work the day after? My doc said that I can go back the next day, but to take it "very easy." I'm in I.T. & am on the computer ALL day...Maybe I should just take the Wed. off since the day after is Thanksgiving...?
The babysitter idea is a good one! My dh & I are both off from Thurs-Sun for the holiday so he'll have to be super-dad for a few days lol

Well you really won't be able to use your hand. So if you need your hand to do anything on the computer you won't really be able to rely on it. If you have the time I would try to take off the day after also.
Depending on the time of your surgery, if you are in on time, how you handle being knocked out, etc.

Great - thanks so much!
I hope that your insurance coverage changes so that you can get your other hand done...it must be so frustrating not being able to do it

Yes it is. Thankfully my left isn't nearly as bad as my right was.
It was definitely one of the best things I ever did. (Lasik is the first!)

If you have any other questions, let me know. It was a while ago, but I may be able to answer.
