toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
I am wondering what kind of responsibilities you give your kids.
Talia loves jobs...so we give her chores which include helping with Laundry, emptying the dishwasher, and walking the dog.
In addition she sets the table every night by herself.
What kind of jobs do you give your kids to do? I am wondering what else they can handle.

Sarah helps with laundry, helps clean up the play room every day, and helps change her bed. We change the sheet and then she puts her pillow, blanket and stuffed animals back in the bed.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
She has to put her toys away, she puts her dishes in the sink, she'll help me unload the sink (I give her the tupperware to put away), she'll wipe the table down, and she'll help in putting away her laundry.

Jenna helps unload the dishwasher, loves putting laundry in the dryer and is responsible for picking up all her toys

Roman feeds the dog every morning and night, puts dirty laundry in the hampers, vaccums with the dust buster, empties all the wastebaskets, and dusts.
Now if he could only put up moulding and grout the bathroom floor, I'd be delighted.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
Jake doesn't have set "chores" but he loves jobs too so we have him help out whenever he can.
He clears his place after a meal (dishes in the sink, garbage in the garbage).
When I'm cleaning he swiffers the living room and the hallway.
He helps me carry in groceries - I give him very light bags.
He loves to help change the garbage bags.
I love that he can help out now. Now if only I could get him to do the ONE thing I REALLY want him to do - pick up his toys!!

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
No. Noah has asthma and I don't like to use cleaning chemicals when he is awake as they are really bad for small children. Spray cleaners get everywhere and his poor little lungs need special care.
He does spend a lot of time playing at the sink like he is washing dishes and he does like to take the laundry out of the washing machine and into the dryer.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
Not a Mom but just want to say I think this is great! I know someone who's kids do not lift a finger in their house because, "Getting them to help is more trouble than its worth." These kids are the laziest, most bored and spoiled kids I know. I think chores are the first steps in making a responsible teen and adult.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
I think her only "responsibility" at this point is to clean up her toys and her books--which she loves, actually...so unlike mommy
Otherwise, she helps "fold" the clothes which makes more of a mess, really. She also helps to dust and vacuum.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
My DD is 3.5 and has her chores. Aside from getting her self dressed, washed and teeth brushed. Empty her items from the dishwasher, fold and put away her clothes, make her bed, keep her toys tidy and in it's place once doen playing. Water the plants, set the table. She loves to wash dishes, so I let her wash her cups and plates. I am grateful she enjoys ALL of this. It's not all done perfect, but she is learning responsibility.
ETA: she also feeds the cat each morning. and when i clean she will help with certain things. She def. takes after me.

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
Without sound like a big beeyotch, I would be careful with kids around cleaning supplies. Anything in a spray bottle lingers in the air and your little kiddies and their tender little lungs can breathe them in and they aren't good for them.
I only say this because my son is Asthmatic and I have to be super careful around him.

No "set" chores BUT
He helps me make and unmake the bed. He helps empty the dishwasher He LOVES to dust or help clean off the glass. He helps put away things in the fridge and helps with the laundry...

Re: toddler moms re: chores and responsibilities
Emily doesn't have set toys.
She loves throwing things in the garbage for us
Loves wiping things down with wipies (i give her babywipes when I use clorox wipes)
loves wiping things with water on a towel when i use windex on a towel
She puts her toys away only to dump the baskets, buckets right out again. She likes the dumping sound way more then the cleaning them up and putting them away sound
And she loves to put laundry in the dryer.
Mostly if I'm putting away laundry, cleaning, doing dishes, baking, cooking, etc, she just stays on a stool and watches, talks to me about what I am doing.
And I have to agree with Rach --- be careful about what sprays/cleaners your kids are around. Emily and DH are both asthmatic and the cleaners, even simple things like windex, get to them fast. Clorox wipes even bother my DH ---- so I try to give her baby wipes or a paper towel with water on it when she helps me wipe things down just because it is more gentle.
