Toddler Moms...How can I get this kid to sleep in later.

She is up at 6:30 and it is really messing me up in the morning. I leave at 7am and it is easier on my dad if she is still Chat Icon when I go. How can I get her to snooze longer? Any tips.....put her to bed earlier, later?

I know everyone says sleep begets sleep, but the later I put dd to bed the later she sleeps. Maybe not right away but after a week or so she adjusts and sleeps later.

I wish I knew. I've tried keeping Ryan up later, but that doesn't usually work. He goes down between 7-8 and wakes up between 6:30-7:00.

Antonio started doing this since I went back to work...I guess it has to do with the anxiety of knowing I'm leaving.

What has helped for us
-i put the fan on his room so he does not hear us getting ready

-even if he is awake I do not go in to see him...sometimes dh goes in and tells his "eveyone is still sleeping"

i can't imagine what would happen if he watched me get ready and leave...as soon as we leave my mo
m goes in to get him

I really believe it has to do with the seperation anxiety...he used to sleep until 10

I would kill for her to sleep until 6:30! Lately she has been getting up around 6 or so but some days she is up at 5 or 5:30 and it's plain old brutal!

I wish I had an answer, I tried doing later bedtime but it never worked so I just stick to her regular time and pray that she starts sleeping later eventually...

As Ava has gotten older, I've found that putting her to bed later is what has her sleeping in. It used to be that I needed to put her down earlier to get her to sleep later, but not anymore. Try it and see what happens!

When you find out let me know because that's one thing I have yet to be able to get him to do!

I can't answer that because we do not want her to sleep in, we need her to get up! But on weekends she will go to bed at 10-11 and sleep until 10-11.

does the morning sunlight dome into the room? we just got blackout curtains to help DD nap better during the day. Also, put DC down later, as others suggested.

I use old school pull down shades and insulated thermal curtains to keep the room dark. We also leave a fan on in her room to block out outside noise.

Maybe she hears you getting ready??

I know it's hard, Ava still wakes up anytime between 5:30- 7:00 a.m.

DD goes to bed between 10 and 11 pm and gets up anywhere between 9 and 11 am. She's been like that since she was born, she's like a college student; up late, sleep late. That's why we call her Party Hardy!

Re: Toddler Moms...How can I get this kid to sleep in later.

We're goign through the same thing with Ellie. She used to sleep til 7:30 or 8:30 and now she's up early all the time but she still goes to bed by 8. It's always something a tooth a cold etc. or maybe it has something to do with knowing I'm going to work. I don't know and I don't know how to fix it. We can't really put her to bed later. DH and I are exhausted by the end of the day. I can't imagine her being up an extra 2 hours with us would help.

When you find out, call me. Noah used to sleep until 730/8 during the week, but since he is in his big boy bed, he is up at 6.30 like clockwork everyday!

Re: Toddler Moms...How can I get this kid to sleep in later.

Nikolas has an internal alarm clock that goes off at 6:30 ON THE DOT..
Doesnt matter if he goes to sleep 7pm or 10pm, he is ALWAYS up at 6:30am Chat Icon

His normal bedtime is actually 7:30pm, it's been like that forever. We have played around with putting him down earlier or later but it makes no diff. So unless we're out, I don't keep him up later. He's in his crib by 7:30 or even earlier (at the worst he'll just roll around, listen to his music and play in there for a bit without fuss then drift off to sleep). He might as well try to get to sleep as early as possible since he'll be up at 6:30 without fail anyhow Chat Icon

I was hoping it would get better, but based on this thread with kids older than Niko.. I guess not Chat Icon (I swear on the ODD and VERY RARE occassions he'll sleep until 7 or 730am, I feel like I'm SLEEPING IN Chat Icon Chat Icon)

Wish I knew the answer to that one! DD goes to bed at all different times lately- from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and still wakes up at 6:30 every morning. Even this morning on NY time when she went to bed at 10pm(LA time) she was up with the sun.Chat Icon
