Toddlers on soy milk
Do you give them anything to make up for having no dairy in their diet or do they get what they need from the soy milk? DS won't eat soy yogurt and most of the soy cheese I've seen actually has dairy in it.

Re: Toddlers on soy milk
I don't. Dr said it is fine. He takes a multi-vitamin as well.
He eats lactaid cheese and soy yogurt - but I never looked what is actually in there. He isn't allergic though - he is just lactose intolerant. Otherwise he eats a pretty well balanced diet.

Re: Toddlers on soy milk
DS has a milk allergy, so has always been on soy. He gets all the same vitamins and minerals as are in milk, so I don't worry about any supplementing. He also talkes PoliViFlor (sp?) vitamins.

Re: Toddlers on soy milk
DS has a severe milk allergy and I kept him on soy formula until he was 2 in order to make sure he was getting all the calcium and fats he needed. The problem with soy/rice milk is that they are not complete proteins so they lack the fats that whole milk provides which help with brain development.
Once he was 2 I put him on enriched rice milk, which caused constipation for months, so I switched him to potato based milk. I didn't use soy milk because I felt that he was getting tons of soy from other sources and I wanted to limit his soy intake. I make sure everything that he eats/drinks otherwise is calcium fortified and he takes vitamins. He's a really healthy 4 year old!

Re: Toddlers on soy milk
I know he gets the vitamins and stuff from the soy milk, but i guess i was just wondering since most kids also eat yogurt and cheese in addition to milk.
