Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
DD goes to bed between 7-8 (teething has messed up our reg. routine!)
6:30 - snack 6:45-7 - bath 7-7:15 - pjs, lotion etc. and play/read for a few min 7:15-7:30 rock for a few min if shes in the mood.
times may vary a little but thats the general idea.
She goes to bed awake every night with her bunnys, suckies and blankie. hoping to break the sucky habit soon.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
Jack is 21 months old.
He gets a sippy of milk about 20 mins before bed downstairs.
We go upstairs - put him on my bed - change him into his pjs and sleepsack as he watches a show.
We go in his room. I usually read him two-three books. The last one is always the same (You are my I love you)
We then get up off the glider and go say goodnight to the angel teddybear (she says her prayer) - He kisses her goodnight.
I then turn on the sound machine (or humidifier if he's congested)
I hit play on his CD player --- he's been listening to the same CD since he was about 6 months old (it's a friends Baby shower CD)
I turn off the lights.
We then spend about 5 minutes kissing each other and playing games as I hold him. When DH is home he takes part in this (so does Abby lol)
I put him in his crib (wide awake) and say "Sweet Dreams, mommy loves you, have a good night sleep, see you in the morning" This is no later than 7:30pm.
He sometimes goes right to sleep - sometimes tosses and turns for up to an hour.
Wakes between 6:30-7:00.
HTH!
PS - you asked for detailed

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
btwn 8-9 depends on the day.
routine.. after dinner depending on day or if she had a messy dinner she gets a bath, otherwise she plays right after. DH gets home so he jumps around with her. Then if no bath shell get washed up, put pjs on. Then bottle while watching some tv, then plays more. Then we just put her in crib and she passes out.. by then shes more than willing to go to sleep. We tried reading to her but she doesnt want to sit still. Hoping soon shell sit and let me.
She doesnt need help going to bed, usually passes out in minutes. but on rare days shell play with her elmo doll in crib or with the fisher price aquarium.

I walk out and shut the door.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
DS is 21 months- me and my DH alternate each thing so DS never gets used to just one of us doing it, so for example, some night I read to him, some night my DH does
-DS gets a sippy of milk at 7:00 while watching dora and diego -around 7:50 we get PJ's on and brush teeth (one of us gets his humidifier ready and puts the sound machine on meanwhile) -then we sit on our rocker/glider and read around 5-6 books (the last one is always Good Night Moon-by the time we get to it, most of the time his eyes are starting to droop already) -Then we give him lots of kisses, say goodnight, put him in the crib and shut the door-by this time its around 8:15-8:30
90% of the time he goes right down and is sleeping within 5 minutes, the other 10% we have to do CIO for 5 minutes and then after we go in and stay for a 1 min, he goes right to bed the minute we leave. If he is sick, and crying, we dont do CIO, we will stay a couple minutes and rub his back and then leave...we always try to make sure he falls asleep on his own without us in the room HTH

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
DD is 17 months and goes to bed between 7:30 and 8. If it's on the earlier side it's because she's cranky.
I change her into her pjs, brush her teeth and put her in her crib wide awake. Then I read her a book while she is laying down. I put her music on from her mobile (no more mobile - just the music part) and I close the door and leave. Most of the time she doesn't make a sound and just goes to sleep. Sometimes she cries for 5 minutes.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
7-dinner 9pm -go hang out downstairs with his grandparents (i have a 2 family house) 915- sippy of pediasure 945-come upstairs, diaper change, pjs, call dad when he's working to say goodnight and i love u. 10- sit with me in glider to sing our goodnight song, say our prayers, kisses, then i put him down awake. 1015-1045 falls asleep wakes between 730-9am (depending on teething, noises, etc.)
i know that is crazy late for most children but we've always put him down late b/c dh works late and it just works better for us.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
7:30 I go upstairs to get her pajamas, get her crib ready (her stuffed animals have to be carefully positioned properly), turn on the white noise machine, night light and reading light.
7:35 I start her bath while Tom gets her undressed. This usually means a naked toddler running around screaming and giggling.
7:40 vitamins and teeth brushing. Then Tom puts her into the bathtub and plays for a few minutes. I straighten up the living room and playroom and then go in to wash her in the tub. Tom leaves the bathroom and does whatever it is that he does.
7:50 the bath is done, I take her out, dry her off, lotion her up (she heps with that), brush her hair, give her a new diaper, and put her in pajamas. Then she give me a hug and I pick her up to bring her upstairs. Tom is usually hiding around a corner to surprise her and give her a kiss goodnight.
Then Tom give her her favorite dog stuffed animal "woof woof", and I bring her upstairs. She turns off the hall light, touches the doorway and we sit down in her glider so I can read her 4 books, "Hey! Wake up!" (don't ask...), Brown Bear, Brown Bear", "The Foot Book", and "Goodnight Moon". I then carry her over to her crib, put her down, put her blanket next to her, turn on her aquarium thingie, introduce her to all of her stuffed animals (baby bear, baby doll, eleFUNt, ducie duck and woof woof. I turn off the reading light while she gives them all kisses. Then I go back to her, give her goodnight kisses through the slats of her crib, and then once right on the face. I tell her I love her, say good night, and walk away. She waves, or blows kisses, and I leave the room, closing the door behind me.
She goes to sleep and wakes up the next morning.
Typing that all out makes me realize we're a little crazy because it happens like that EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
He goes to bed at 7:30 or 8, but I'm thinking of moving bedtime up to 7-7:30--I think he's too cranky in the mornings lately.
He generally does go to sleep on his own pretty well, though he goes through spurts of separation anxiety at bedtime. The last time he did this for a stretch was around a year. He has a much harder time with naps though.
His routine is as follows:
Quiet play after dinner Cup of milk about 30 minutes before bedtime Brush teeth Put on pj's Read books Say goodnight to some things in his room Go to sleep with favorite stuffed animals.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
Bedtime is between 8-8:30, we start the routine at 7:30 by using the potty, brushing teeth, getting pjs on, then we relax in the livingroom and watch tv a little or do something quiet. Then at 8 we go upstairs into her room, turn out the light and turn on the little lamp she has, also turn on her sound machine (it plays rainfall), pick out three books and read them. Then we snuggle and talk about what we did that day and what we're looking forward to the next day. Then she climbs in bed, one last hug and kiss and she goes right to bed. Other than a recent setback where she didn't want to go to bed for a few weeks, she almost never cries at bedtime. If she cries at bedtime, it's usually because she isn't tired enough to go to bed, like for example, if we had a lazy day and she didn't expel enough energy.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
Bedtime is between 8 and 830. He gets a bath, brushes his teeth, watches a little tv to unwind, then goes in his room. He lies in bed with his favorite froggie, we read between 3 and 5 stories, I kiss him goodnight, give him a hug and he goes to sleep. He usually wakes up between 7 and 730.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
I usually give DS his bath before DH comes home. Around 7PM we sit down for dinner (if DH is working later, DS has eaten already. At this time he'll sit and have "dessert"...Fruit) While Im cleaning up dinner, DH and DS have "one on one quiet play, read story time". By 8:15, the 3 of us go upstairs, DS brushes his teeth (with help), and DH "prepares" his bedroom..Shuts the blinds, turns on sound machine and makes sure "Bunny,Bear, and Fish" are all in his crib. I change his diaper one more time. We do "Family Hug". Put DS in his crib, he blows us kisses, grabs his animals and lately has been going right to sleep. He's usually out by 8:45PM.

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
DD is 21 months
Bedtime is between 7-7:30pm routine begins about 45 minutes prior to bedtime let me add that she LOVES the routine-very happy when i tell her it's time for bath and books. -start with a bath/brushing teeth -go up to room to change/pj's etc -then right to the rocker for about 5-7 books or so (her favorite part) -she takes a few sips of milk from her sippy, turn on white noise place her in crib, hand over her binky and doggy lights out and i leave. that's it not much to it-but it really helps.
* edited to add that DD has always gone to sleep on her own. it was a fluke really and i am grateful for it. i used to try to rock her as an infant and she wanted no part of it. so i just started literally sticking her in the crib and let her do it on her own. when she was older and could manipulate i did CIO like @ 8 months. perfect age b/c she was old enough but not too old. i am PRAYING this works with my DC #2 due in July!

Re: Toddlers Sleeping Questions
After dinner we play, read and clean up toys. That's at 7:00 ish.
Right after cleaning up I get the bath ready. Sometimes bath time time is 10 minuts and somtimes it's 25 minutes. It all depends how tired/restless they are.
After bath they get their pj's on and kiss everyone goodnight-mommy, daddy, big sis and each other. I put one in the crib and DH puts the other. We say I love you, sleep good mama etc and we're out. At this point they are exhausted and fall right sleep. Bed time is usually 7:30- give or take 15 minutes.
