Tonight on CBS evening news: investigative piece about Social Security disability delays
This has affected so many people from this site in one way or another, so I figured I'd post the info. I work with the system and today I received notice from The Natl ***'n of Social Security Disability Reps that this show is to air. This probably means that they interviewed a member or 2. Many of the news pieces about this have been disappointing but I hope that this one is good. We really need voters to realize that because the Social Security Administration does not receive adequate funding, they have made huge cuts in staffing and cannot handle the workload. Regardless of what you think about the Social Security system, the funding cuts mean that when you need the benefits that you paid for, you are going to have to get in line!!!!!!
The evening news website says that it airs at 6:30 EST. Is that correct? I don't watch it normally but it seems off somehow?
ETA: I was trying to say "Association" and the first 3 letters were picked up as a bad word.

Re: Tonight on CBS evening news: investigative piece about Social Security disability delays
UPDATE: It was a pretty good piece. To be continued tomorrow when they will talk about the delays in getting a hearing. Average wait time for a hearing is 520 days nationwide, and a little over 400 days on Long Island. There are initiatives to fix that but so many of them have failed in the past.
