Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

Is there such thing as having too many things on your registry?

I feel like we have so many items!

Maybe can anyone share the breakdown of items by price in their registries? BRU has an option to show the registry that way...

---

here's the breakdown of my items at BRU:

8 items $150 and over
6 items $50-$150
17 items $25-$50
80 items 0-$25

12 in store items $0-$25

*We also have a small RHbabyandchild registry that pretty much just has our bedding, lamp, storage bins/baskets

Re: Too much on registry?

I was just told on Sunday at bru that you should think about the amount of people you expect to give you a gift and multiply it by 5.. and that is how many items you should reg for..I personally think having to much stuff on the reg is better than to littleChat Icon

I actually think the opposite. I think you should register for things you REALLY need as opposed to "fun stuff" so as to ensure you get the necessities Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Too much on registry?

I drove people crazy, I did not register for much.

I wanted to get things I really needed then I did not care what people bought me after that.

worked out, everything off my registry was purchased, got gift cards, cash, and people who aren't into registeries felt free to get me something else.

Re: Too much on registry?

I think there is such a thing.

I've been invited to two showers in the past year where the registry printouts at BBB and BRU were about 20 pages. It was quite tedious and annoying to shop and decide on a gift so I just bought the first thing I saw in the price range.

Both people had a ton of things left over afterwards and got a lot of things that they really didn't need.

I pretty much agree with puting less on my registry. I just had my shower this past Sunday and I got everything off of my registry, plus giftcards, checks and cash...I still got lots of clothes even though I didn't register for them.

Re: Too much on registry?

I didn't put clothes on my registry. If my sister didn't INSIST..no toys would have been put on there either... But you are going to get a million clothes and toys (the little toys) regardless if they are on your registry or not. I wanted to focus on the stuff I "needed" rather than all the cute stuff. KWIM. Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

I have 93 total items on my BRU registry.

and then I have about 20 items on BBB.

there are onesies, hats, booties, bibs, rattles, lotions etc.

it adds up.

don't stress out about it. if someone is going to have something to say, it really won't matter. if it wasn't too many, it would be something else Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

i have 130 items in total. I did not put clothes. I did put a few onesies, hats, and socks.

Here is my breakdown:

150 and up- 5
50-249- 5
25-50 25
0-25- 95

I am inviting around 70 people. I hope that I get what I really need first.

Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

Without actually seeing what you have, the numbers sound reasonable. I had a lot on my registry, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. JMO, but if you don't have enough, you could end up getting a bunch of things that aren't on your registry that you don't need. If people don't include a receipt, you could be stuck with the stuff.

In terms of things like toys, I registered for several. My reasoning was that I could at least steer people to the toys that I liked and got great reviews.

Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

I think your registry sounds okay. I mean, I am assuming the things under $25 are bottles/bibs/onsies/etcs..still essentials.

I remember for our Bridal registry we overloaded it and really didn't get the essentials: bedding, everyday dishes & towels!! So, I've learned to really put the things you need the most and not worry too much about the others. However I think you have a good price range going on.

Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

I think you don't have too much...I agree that it depends on how many people are suggosed to be attending your shower as well. I alwasy think registering for more is good b/c you can always go out and get it on your own with a small discount. But I wouldn't go over-board on the small items...I would keep it more towards the things that you will really need.... people always ending up buying different things then only what is on the regstery anywyas...

hi hayley,

ok, i took a look through your registry ( i remembered your last name, hope you dont mind) and while you have a nice variety of items, you do have a lot of toys and feeding items.

you can look through mine, lisa sabia (bru) . When i registered, i picked things that i knew i would need within the first few months and not necessarily way down the line. i also have a bit of a space issue so i did not want to be overrun with too many different items that take up the entire livingroom. You ahve to think about where you are going to store some of the items that won't be used till the baby is 6,7,8 months.

overall i was very happy with my registry and got pretty much everything i needed without having to make a lot of returns or compromise on space.

i think your best bet with the big toys are the swing, the exersaucer, and the play mat ( which can double as a tumnmy mat)
love the lamaze toys! those are great.
and i would register for a humidifer ( cool mist) and you are good to go!

jsut trying to help out ! as you go, you see a lot of things that you can do without or that you did not necessarily need so hth!!

Re: Too much on registry? *edited with my breakdown of items

I personally think that people can get carried away when registering...myself included...

I did SO MUCH research, and harped over a few of the bigger items. I did not register for that much stuff...I tried to be practical, and also thought of the many times I have been to showers where the person registered for things that were completely unecessary...

that being said, don't go by the number of things you registered for, but by the importance, of what you registered for....

we didn't register for the smaller things that i would have gone and purchased..

You can organize the registry by either produt category or price (low to high/high to low) and then it shows each category...
