Totally gross and TMI - regarding newborn Poop
I'm not sure if his poop is ok.
He has a pretty bad diaper rash and I'm not sure if it's because he's been pooping too much. How much is too much? He poops for sure after every bottle.
There is not a ton of it - but it's brown and kind of grainy if that makes any sense?
He cries while getting changed and I know he's uncomfortable from his tush being red - we are now putting Triple Paste on it so hoping that will help.
Does this sound right to you?

what does the rash look like? It could be yeast. You had a section right? You got a lot of anti-biotics which baby also got which wipes out their healthy gut flora making them VERY susceptible to yeast rash..
Look into getting him on a infant pro-biotic

It should stop soon( I mean lessen) . My girls were pooping after every feeding till about 2 weeks old and now its 1-3x's a day total....And theres is explosive still...and they are a bit red as well..I asked the Ped yesterday is the explosiveness was normal and the redness he said yes and even vaseline is ok, not to overdo the diaper rash cream ....

I agree- he might have a yeast diaper rash. I agree with the probiotic. In the meantime, you can use a little lotrimin on it (same stuff they use for jock itch).

Thanks girls! I'll check it out once he wakes up and if it hasn't gotten any better I'll take him to the ped tomorrow!

Re: Totally gross and TMI - regarding newborn Poop
I just want to recommend Triple Paste -- when DD was pooping 12+ times a day it was a lifesaver
she was starting to get red (not sure if it was from wiping so much or the beginning of a rash) but it cleared it right up and 5+ weeks later and shes never had anymore redness
ETA i missed in the OP that you use triple paste
hope its helping!

Re: Totally gross and TMI - regarding newborn Poop
I would think about trying out different creams.
Ds had a rash early on when he was a newborn and nothing seemed to work. Desitin didn't. Triple paste didn't, etc etc. Finally we found that Aveeno did.
So maybe a different cream might work better for him.
