Totally random poll - Towels
A co-worker of mine told me that her family only uses their towels one time before they go in the hamper...she told me she washes a load of towels a DAY! Am I crazy, or does that seem excessive??

that is excessive. I probably wash our bath towels once a week. Hello, your drying your CLEAN body with them out of the shower/bath, you know.

I said after 2-3 uses. I find the towels start to smell musty after that.
It's also only DH and I, so it's really not that bad.

We wash ours after about 3 uses, but I use a "fresh" one for the kids every night. I should stop doing that... they'd never know.

This is funny because i grew up using the same one for about 2 days. When I started living with my DH he was not having that. Now we use them once. I probably do about 2 loads of towels a week.

When I was younger I would only use a towel once. My poor mother must've been doing laundry every day! Once I moved out I started using them about 3 or 4 times before they went in hamper. Unless they're starting to smell musty, then they go in sooner.

same with me- I realize now that the washing machine was running constantly in our house growing up- my Mom did 3 to 5 loads of laundry a day 
when I went away to college- I started using the same one a few times- and now that I have to pay to do laundry I try to reuse them a few times

DH drives me crazy because he only uses a towel once and then puts it in the hamper. I had to have a talk with him the other night because it was to the point where I was doing a load of towels almost every other day! He would take the ones that I used and would throw them in the hamper as well. Once they hit the hamper with the rest of the dirty clothes, that's it, in my eyes.
OH ANDDDD - he uses clean, regular full-sized towels to dry his hands, if there is not a hanf towel in the bathroom. I have, on occasion, walked him to the linen closet and personally introduced him to our vast stash of hand towels.
If I had my way, we would use them 3-4 times and then they would go in the wash.
(sorry for the ramble - this is a sore spot in our house)

I use my towel until it starts getting that musty smell - so the days depend on that. Sometimes it's after 5 days sometimes it's after 2.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one fighting this battle. Only thing DH has in his favor is that he does his own laundry so it really has no effect on me. But the lack of understanding how to hang a towel up baffles me.

I do towels in the laundry 2x a week. So I would say every 3-4 days. DH always leaves his wet towel on the floor or the bed  I started hanging them back up and letting him use the towel form the floor. Now he puts it in the hamper.

Exactly. As long as the bathroom is well-ventilated and the towels have a chance to dry between uses, I don't see the need to do it more often. I would think your co-worker needs to buy new towels constantly - don't they get worn out?

Growing up, I used the towel once & then threw it in the hamper. My mom did laundry everyday before work.
Now we use our towels 2-3 times & put it in the hamper. I have a HUGE load of towels to do at the end of the week
