same here!
In this industry everyone knows it. In my phone interview I told them my score (close to and statistically equivalent to 1600) and she asked me completely seriously "Didn't you want to try for 1600?"
ETA: And my answer was the same as to the college question "I didn't have anything to prove"

I dealt with that all the time...I started out at Penn State, HATED it and ended up transferring to Hofstra...I got SO sick of explaining to people why I would choose to go to Hofstra vs. Penn State... all I would constantly hear from them is "Penn State is such a great school, why would you go to Hofstra from there" it was SO annoying because I loved my time at Hofstra and got a really good education
