Town of Hempstead renovation permit??
I just bought a house in East Meadow, and we wanted to get our kitchen and dinning area redone before we move in. I just found out that I need a permit for any type of renovation in the house. So I called the town of Hempstead and they said to get a permit it take about 6- 8 weeks. Is that true? Does it usually take that lon just to get a permit? Should I get a permit or just ignore it? We don't plan to sell the house or anything.

I redid my kitchen. Long as there's no major structural work you do not need a permit. Especially if you aren't selling anytime soon. And yes the town is slow with everything.
