Trader Joe's question
This may sound stupid but, What exactly is Trader Joe's ? Is like Whole foods? everything is organic or all natural? If so, is it just as good quality wise and just less expensive? I am in the middle of the plainview location and commack.. Is one better than the other? Thanks.

Re: Trader Joe's question
I've only been to the one in Lake Grove and in NYC both had almost identical products if that helps.
Trader Joes for me has alot of inexpensive products, unique products and healthier products. I do 90% of my food shopping there. It's not quite like a whole foods or any other supermarket because there are no departments. It doesnt really have a "supermarket" feel to it.

Re: Trader Joe's question
They pretty much only carry their own label products and a few other name brands.
They have a much larger selection of organic/natural products than most grocery stores.
Their prices are fantastic, they never do sales/coupons but you don't need to - they are usually the same price as say a Stop and Shop sale price.
The only thing I don't love is that they aren't a full service store. Example, last time I went I needed white vinegar for some cleaning, they don't carry that.
They have a small aisle of every imaginable kind of product, but you won't find the same mix of flavors, sizes, etc. that you would find at Stop and Shop.
Their products are very yummy - especially desserts, frozen veggies, and some of the packaged stuff.
I don't Love their produce - it is ok but mostly prepackaged and the one near me runs out of stuff frequently.
I go there about 1x per month and stock up and then use a regular grocery store weekly.

Re: Trader Joe's question
They have great prices as others have said. Weekly we buy there:
coffee organic fruit-they had a pint of organic blueberries for 2.99 a few weeks ago which is unbelievable-usually 4.99 in the winter at other stores, banannas, sweet potatoes-5 lb bag for 3.99. organic cinnamon raisin bread for my boys soy yogurt goat cheese rosemary raisin crackers for cheese-OMG the best. They are a ripoff(i think) of raincoast crackers which are great but like $9 for 30 crackers WINE-we buy green fin sauvignon blanc 3.99 and it is really good! We don;t really buy their frozen stuff because my DH cooks every night...
LOL you can tell I go there a lot
