Transfer Day 3 or 5?
If you have done IVF, did you have a day 3 or day 5 transfer and why did your Dr. choose that for you? Is there a standard protocol for choosing one vs. the other? TIA!

Re: Transfer Day 3 or 5?
On my 1st IVF cycle we did a day 3 transfer and it was due to the fact that a very small amount of my embryos fertilized and the ones that were left were poor quality ( got pg. but was a chemical)
On my 2nd IVF cycle, I was pushed to a day 5 because we had really great fertlization and a lot of embies excellent quality - hatching blastocysts( 30 weeks pg. with that one) and we had 3 blasts left over to freeze...
I think a lot of it depends on your #' s and quality, as well as some doctors feel the embies due better either in the uterus, or under observation...

Re: Transfer Day 3 or 5?
There are various reason for day 3 vs day 5 transfer.
In my case, we did both IVFs with 3 day transfers, due to my age and egg quality. My Dr. thought they would do better inside me in the uterus rather than in a dish.
First IVF, only had 3 embies make it to day 3
Second IVF had 13 embies on day 3. We still did 3 day transfer, we put 3 back and ended up with 6 frozen

Re: Transfer Day 3 or 5?
We did a Day 5 transfer due to PGD genetic testing, they need 2 more days to send cells to the lab and get the results back...
Good Luck!
