Transition: Carseats
When did you transition your DC from infant carrier to convertable car seat? DS will not stay in his car seat (in the stroller) so I have been using his 'real' stoller. I just use the infant carrier to carry him from the house to the car. I am thinking the convertable may be easier to maneuver him, but I don;t know if it's too early to switch him over. He is 5 months.

Re: Transition: Carseats
We had to put Jack in his Marathon at 2 months - he HATED the infant carseat.

Re: Transition: Carseats
I moved DS to the convertible car seat when he was 1. When he got to long to have the infant car seat attached to the stroller, then I would leave the infant seat in the car and just put him in the stroller.

Re: Transition: Carseats
When both DC got too heavy to carry in the infant seat, we switched them. Our DC are on the lighter side, so they didn't get to the 22lb limit until around a year or so. (I err on the side of caution, so when they hit 20 lbs, I considered that the limit).
As long as DC is 5 lbs, they can be in a convertible seat.

Re: Transition: Carseats
my first 2 babies were 4 months. My 3rd is 4 1/2 months now and we just bought the new carseat. I am waiting a few more weeks to switch her, I am waiting till she sits better so she can sit in shopping carts and restraunt highchairs.

Re: Transition: Carseats
We use both. I use the Britax since he was about 3 mos, and DH & the ILs & my mom use the infant carrier, since it is easy for them to transport with the bases in their cars.

Re: Transition: Carseats
I think she was 7 months....when her feet started to get squished against the back seat if she was in the infant seat. I didn't want her to be uncomfortable. And it was starting to get heavy carrying her around in the infant seat.

Re: Transition: Carseats
Around 6 months we moved Lucas to the convertible...we should have done it earlier because he finally stopped crying. He must have been so uncomfortable in the infant seat

That is what I am thinking. Thanks. It seems so silly right now. I take him in and out of the car seat for everything.

Re: Transition: Carseats
DD is still in it at 8 months. I'm trying to keep her in it until we go to Florida at the end of March...will be easier to have the snap-n-go system when we travel.

Re: Transition: Carseats
We just switched at almost 9 months. Wish we had done it WAY sooner because she was always a bit fussy with the snugride. She just seems SO much more comfy now

We switched at 9.5 months. He still fits in the infant seat, but really hates it. He is so cute in his "big boy seat"

Re: Transition: Carseats
we just switched at 7.5 months, he seems to really like the marathon, but i sure do miss the ease of the carrier. We haven't switched to the marathon in DH car yet, but will be doing that prob this weekend. He was in a convertible car seat in my SIL car though at around 4 months.
