Transitioning from bottle to sippy cup
We tried this weekend to transition the afternoon 2 bottles to a new sippy cup. Luke was having no part of it! He has been drinking water out of a sippy cup for 6 months no problem.
Any recommendations?
Do you think I should try the same type of sippy cup we use for water?
Should I try a softer spot sippy cup during transition for awhile for milk?
What sippy cup for milk would you recommend (prefer BPA free)?
1st pic is current water sippy cup
2nd pic is the new sippy cup we tried for milk (Luke didn't even drink it, kept asking for a bottle) Image Attachment(s):

Re: Transitioning from bottle to sippy cup
So he drinks water from a sippy cup? If so then I would recommend using that brand for the milk.
DS had been drinking water from a Dr Browns cup (clear) so I put the milk in the same type except instead of clear it was a blue cup.
At first he threw it on the floor but I refused to give him the bottle...I did it first thing in the morning since I knew he's most thirsty when he wakes. Before we left the house he did drink a few sips..enough to quench his thirst. I'd say it took a week for him to accept it. The ped told me not to stress over a milk strike...it was stubborn determination so I refused to give in. I made sure to use the same sippy for milk so he understood that was what it was.
That was 11 months...now at 18 months he uses the first year cups and we don't have to put milk in a certain one...he gets what he gets.

Re: Transitioning from bottle to sippy cup
I use the sipster (your 1st pic) for both water & milk...but I put the milk in the green ones and water in the blue one. I never had any problems w/the transition from the bottle but my DS is a little piggy will eat or drink anything!!
eta: I later introduced a different sippy (actually, one just like your 2nd pic) and he took to it fine but I only put water (and/or juice) in it.

Re: Transitioning from bottle to sippy cup
Well, we're still struggling with bottles over here too, but I'm kind of lax about it because I'm fine with her still being on bottles if she needs them for comfort right now (16.5 months). I would love them gone by Christmas though.
That said-- as a previous poster said, when we do try milk in the cup, we use the same cups (Born Free), but different color cups for milk & water. Specifically-- we have a lot of orange ones, so we use the orange ones when we try to give her milk, and other colors for water throughout the day.

Stupid Question, why do you use different colored cups?

Re: Transitioning from bottle to sippy cup
Thanks ladies! I tried this morning in his regular sippy cup, still a no go ! I decided I am going to try a clear sippy cup - I thought maybe if he could see it is milk it might work. Who knows. I gave in and sent bottles to daycare.

I only did it so he would know/learn what was coming...milk or water. No one ever told me to use different colors and I'm not even sure if it would matter!
