Travel @36 weeks?
Of course, I am going to ask my DR, just thought I would ask the question here...
BIL is getting married about 7 hours (drive) from where I live. Would you make the trip, pending you were feeling alright, etc. You will be able to make it to the BIG wedding next year, this one that is 7 hours away is just a small ceremony.
I delivered at 39 weeks with my first, if that matters..
Thank you!

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I was told absolutely not travel in the 3 rd trimester. buy I had complications with my first pregnancy ask maybe that's why. I would ask and just be aware of where the nearest hospital is god forbid you need it

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I travel for my job and during my first pregnancy my doc told me no travel after 35 weeks. This pregnancy he told me 33 weeks and I have no complications.
With that being said, I like to break rules, so I would probably still go

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I don't think I would. I have a wedding at 35.5 weeks, and at first I thought it was more than an hour from my hospital and my Dr. said he would not recommend attending.

I don't think I would, no. That's a pretty long carride at 36w.

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
i would go but have a good sense of where any hospitals are and also know any important info - like if you are strep b positive or not - and may be take a copy of your paperwork with you so they don't have to repeat any blood work - like the HIV test or others
i say that but i also delivered at 37 weeks when i was out of town and this is some of the info the doc relayed to me
it is not the worst thing in the world- i also might throw the infant seat in your car so you don't have to buy another
if you are prepared it won't happen but if you don't prepare it is more likely to happen

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I wouldn't. That said, unless something changes I am planning to be a bridesmaid in a wedding at 36.5 weeks but it's only a 1-1.5 hour drive away and I have the option of taking the LIRR for most of the trip which I think may be more comfortable for me as I've been getting incredibly carsick lately but am OK in public transportation. (i live and will be delivering on the east side of the city and the wedding is in Nassau)
I'll also be 32.5 weeks pregnant for my BIL's OOT wedding (a 2 hour flight away) and I'm still on the fence as to whether I will go to that ... not keen on flying third tri but my OB currently cleared me to fly domestically through 34 weeks. I'm going to see how I feel as it gets closer (I am almost 22 weeks).
I personally wouldn't go to the wedding you mentioned for 2 reasons: I'd be afraid to be 7 hours away that close to my due date and there is no way that *I* could spend 7 hours in a car. We drove 2 hours each way to a family event in NJ a week ago and I wanted to die.

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I asked my Dr to drive upstate to visit my brother in college at 36 weeks and she said absolutely not. She told me not to travel anywhere after 36 weeks unless I was comfortable with the prospect of possibly delivering there if necessary. That was enough to keep me home!

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
Not a chance in hell.
The amount of swelling alone I would get after being in a car so long, makes me cringe. You'd have to hydrate like crazy and stop all the time!
Not worth it IMO, I'd stay home.

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
Not a chance. Way too far at 36 weeks. We were planning a trip less than half that distance at 35 weeks and my dr said no!

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I can't stand driving more than 2 hrs (MAX) since being PG so I would go nuts in a 7hr trip!
I'm flying to TX at 34wks, and my doc was OK with that.

Re: Travel @36 weeks?
I am 36w now and while I feel great I dont think I'd want to do a car ride of longer than 2 hours at this point.

ITA with this response and at 36 weeks I would not go either.
