Traveling to country for 2-3 weeks

Hi

I am interested in Russian adoption..one of the requirements is travel abroad. Is this a definite..I have another child and couldn't travel for that long.

Russia is a long travel process. There are no ways around that from what I know. I do believe that some Russian adoptions can require 2 trips.
You may need to look into a different country based on your travel requirements.
go to www.whfc.org and look at the various country requirements.

Russia definately requires travel, generally 2 trips. We adopted our son from Moscow which is easy to travel to compared to some places "in country". There are direct flights from NY. Our first trip was short 6 days but we could have done it in 4. Our second trip was longer we left ont the 8th and returned on the 16th but we got stuck over a weekend and a holiday. I recently heard about a few families that got by with one trip but that is very unusual. Take a look a www.frua.org if you are still considering Russia. HI, with adoptions changing so much, you might want to check with your agency on travel times. Every country and agency require different things.

Last year family friends made 2 trips to Russia, the first was for a few days and the 2nd was close to 2 weeks long. Since it was summer time, they took their older child with them.
