Treadmill...not a diet and fitness question!

Silly question but can you put a treadmill on the second floor of a home? The ceiling is strong enough to hold the treadmill and me running it...right?

I would put it in the basement but I have a few extra bedrooms and would like to make a little workout area in one.

Thanks Chat Icon

Treadmills aren't that heavy, and running on one isn't that heavy, either.

Without getting too graphic..... Aren't most queen and king sized beds in the Master bedroom on the 2nd floor?...... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My mom has had one on the second floor in her house for years! It's fine.

My parents have one on the second floor. It's fine, but you can hear it downstairs if someone is running on it, or if my dad is walking (he's heavier...). Plus he always turns the TV up really loud haha...

Well when I am on it there won't be anyone downstairs but there will be someone sleeping across the hall.

Treadmills are VERY loud to the people downstairs. They will definitely hear it.

People down the hall may hear it too. Of course if you only run during the day, it probably won't be too bad on your neighbors.

Well at least I know I won't come crashing down into the first floor Chat Icon Chat Icon

As for noise that may be and issue that would cause me to reconsider. I do run first thing in the morning and that may not work for us. I guess I should just get my arse to the gym or run outside and not be lazy!

We have a treadmill that is on our second floor in our master bedroom. It isn't very loud at all.

I had mine on the second floor for a few years, and it never bothered my DH (he can sleep through ANYTHING!)
