Re: Treasures Literacy Program

We're using it this year for the 1st time...let's just say we're getting used to it.Chat Icon It really is a program that you have to pick and choose...no way we can do oral/phonics/reading/writing/small group work , etc AND still have time in the day for math let alone other interesting things! I'll let you know more as we go along.

Re: Treasures Literacy Program

I just read your original post (sorry) and I see you are trying to do workshop AND treasures? That seems IMPOSSIBLE..you can mix elements in for support, but...huhh?? Keep us posted on Unit 1 and I will do same after Monday..at this point, I made a chart where I'll put the kids pics on it to try and manage centers they are going to..we'll see..good luck!

Re: Treasures Literacy Program

Oh..yea.. centers haha.

Supposedly 1st period pure treasures
2nd period Reading Workshop from TC
3rd Writing Workshop
6th EDM
7th EDM
8th which we all know we pack them up but supposedly it is the workbook portion of the day which they won't do in the AM.

We must do writing/reading workshop. What are you doing?

Re: Treasures Literacy Program

Whoa..that sounds a bit like overkill...we are just doing treasures and EDM right now and treasures is taking so long..when I said centers I meant when you are supposed to meet with groups and have them do the independent stuff...centers for us is when they do house center, etc...where are you, if i can ask? you can FM if you want...

we were also thinking about supplementing the writing with some TC stuff, but not full blown...we are still learning to manage treasures!

Re: Treasures Literacy Program

We need someone to come in and talk to us for sure..as for the house center, yes, they get to play...it's kindergarten! They need the socialization..not only do I have house, I have art, writing, library, and even turn on the outdated computers that run pretty much nothing..haha...I still think you sound like you're doing an overwhelming thing..good luck!

Lucky you. Our kindergarten does not allow "playing" or anything. No toys!

Damn...how on earth??? There is just so much and I can't figure out how to fit it all in in my day??? Seriously, their whole group day lessons are for the WHOLE DAY!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

And when you have younger kids, you may have 2 hours, but with younger kids, between bringing them from a prep, snack, packingup, etc...it dwindles down to 1 really easily.

Re: Treasures Literacy Program

We are finally getting a rhythm, but need BREAKS to get through this stuff...but sadly, no time for extra read alouds and fun stuff like star of the week (yet?)--trying to stay positive, though!

Exactly!!! And social studies??? Um...I have no time! At least with TC, I knew I had my block and there were empty spots in my schedule. With this one, there are no empty spots. So I haven't done my read alouds that I love and never mind other stuff that makes school fun.

WE ARE DOING TC AND TREASURES. ARE YOU ALL?
