Re: Tree Lighting in the city
agreed. Thankfully I'm no where near Rockerfeller Ctr. but my sister is @ 47th and MADISON ..........not even on top of the tree and it takes her 1/2 hour just to get out of her building and DOWN THE BLOCK .........
IMO, it's just not at all worth it. I love the city - I take any chance I can get to hang here .........but THAT is not my idea of a good time. Not at all - You won't see anything, and that's even IF you can get w/in sight of the tree.

I have gone twice and it's just ok. You cant see or really even hear any of the singers. So everyone is just crowded around waiting for the lighting.

I work at Rock Center. Like literally down the block from this fiasco.
I want to hang myself with the traffic and the tourists on a normal day.
Tree lighting ceremony? At Rock CENTER. A Consideration?
Ha.. You ARE CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watch it on TV. Trust me.

What day and time is the lighting happening? I can see the side of the tree from my office window. I'd love to glance down at it when it happens.

THIS!! My office overlooks the tree and while we typically have a party because we don't have to deal with the crowds, I still avoid it like the plague. Trying to leave my building is impossible. Actually, you can't enter/exit after 4pm, so I have to leave work EARLY if I want to go home for the day.

Re: Tree Lighting in the city
My brother's building faces the tree and we have gone to his office for their party (more so for the party than the tree lighting). I see the crowds from the windows and it's crazy...sandwiched in and some people are actually watching it on screens and can't even see the tree in person...And to be honest...it's the most anti-climatic thing.

Tree Lighting in the city
I got there at noon one time and was right against the fence, perfect view. That was until 15 minutes before everything was starting they decided to move the barrier back and everyone that was in that section had to go behind the people that got there hours later a block away! Could not see squat so I made my way to a friends apt and watched on TV. Never again!

I went one time in college bc Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson were performing and my roomate and I were obsessed with them! It was pretty crazy and you couldn't see or hear anything. I'd never go again.
