Trip to L&D Last Night! **UPDATE**

So, I had my 32 week appt with my OB last night at 5pm. DH and I got there early b/c we also had to eat dinner afterwards and be at our Childbirth/Lamaze class at 7pm. Well, things didn't go as planned.

I've been complaining to DH that I've been having headaches everyday for almost 2 weeks! Chat Icon Extra strength Tylenol does not help, nor does gorging myself with water. I even tried to take Sudafed, thinking I had sinus issues. Nothing worked!! Orginally, I had an appt with my OB last Monday but had to cancel. Hence, why it took me so long to tell my doc that I have a friggin headache! DH wanted me to call him but after battling bronchitis for 4 weeks, I really thought my headache was nothing and didn't want to whine to my OB about a headache. Chat Icon

Well, as you may have guessed my BP was elevated last night. I've also been swelling like nobody's business. Much to my surprise, my OB sent me to Good Sam to rule out preeclampsia. First, let me tell you all- the nurses there are awesome!! Really sweet, great senses of humor, professional and accomodating. They answered every question that I had as I was going thru it. The L&D room was pretty nice as well. DH was very happy with the recliner and flat screen tv! Chat Icon

My OB came to see me at the hosp after his office hours were done and assured me that I was doing good. My first 2 BPs were still elevated but then got better over time. I still had a headache which concerned him, but since my bloodwork came back ok, he told me there was no reason to stay in the hospital and that we could go home.

One thing he did say that freaked me out- had I been 36 weeks, I would have been staying at the hospital and having a baby! Chat Icon He told me that he doesn't mess around when it comes to high BP esp. in the 3rd trimester... but my needs to cook a bit more. He also told me that I need to see my PCP to get rid of this headache b/c he is not going to allow me to have one for the next 7 weeks!

So, lucky me... I get to stay home from work today and do a 24-hour urine sample. I also need to get in to see my PCP so he can figure out why the helll I have a headache all the time! Chat Icon All I can say to you girls is this... if you have a headache that DOES NOT go away after taking Tylenol [2 extra strength pills= 1000mg] or drinking lots more water... make sure you call your OB/Midwife and let he/she know what's going on.

UPDATE:
I went to my PCP this morning as per my OB's orders. Luckily, my BP was good there...120/80. Doc isn't sure why I'm getting headaches. Doesn't seem to be sinus, allergy or high BP causing them. I woke up ok but after about an hour, the headache was back! Chat Icon Anyway, my PCP put me on Tylenol with codeine, which my OB is fine with since I am in my 3rd trimester. I hope it works girls! Took a pill at 2pm and so far so good. Have follow up with OB on Monday. Say a prayer that my BP is good or back to L&D I go! Thanks for all of the good wishes. Chat Icon
