Trump's speech this evening
The f@$k was that load of crap???? A week after inciting an insurrection, doing NOTHING the day it happened and subsequently being impeached NOW he has an attack of his conscience????
I guess he isn't able to understand that the damage is already done. He can't put that genie back in the bottle with a few words that are DAYS too late. The things he said tonight are the words he should've spoken from day one of his presidency. But instead, he spent his ENTIRE presidency fanning the flames of hate, division and discourse and he simply can't fix that in a four minute video. It's all too little too late.
What we are watching now is a very pathetic, isolated, mentally ill man scrambling to try and save himself. However, as is the case with every habitual liar there comes a point where they can't stay ahead of their own lies anymore. In the end, all of Trump's lies were ultimately his undoing. Now his entire life, career and presidency are going up in blistering flames and history will not be kind to him. I'll be honest, his demise is the most gratifying thing to watch. Karma is a fickle b!tch and the wrong someone does in life will ALWAYS come back to get them.
Good riddance to one of the most abhorrent human beings the world has ever known. His presence will most certainly not be missed.

Trump's speech this evening
I’ll be honest, I appreciated the speech. Wish it was given last week instead of him saying he loved the rioters. Mostly it made me fearful. I fear he must have been briefed on the serious threats like the Boogaloos and finally realized he had to try to stop whatever may be coming.
Edited to say I hope I’m wrong.

It's all too little, too late IMO. Nothing he says now can undo the damage and chaos that he has caused.
As far as I'm concerned, he needs to just shut up and go back his bags.

Trump's speech this evening
One reason he's doing this is that he (his "people"... he didn't do this by himself...) is doing this is so that his supporters can point to this one tiny speech out of his 4 years of spewing hatred and violence and say "Look at what he said, isn't he wonderful! How can the Dems hate what he just said." He doesn't mean any of it. It was 180 degrees from his usual speech format. Nothing directly about "me", not blaming anyone specifically, complete sentences, no ranting....

Re: Trump's speech this evening
“it’s Opposite Day” - I don’t appreciate any of it and it’s all bullish!t. If he didn’t get impeached for a second time, he would have never given that speech. Damage control and to give the Republicans an excuse to defend him. You will hear today, oh but did you hear his speech? He realizes the seriousness and the error of his ways. It’s such a manipulation and frustrating.
Can’t wait for this man to be the fuk out of the office.

And let’s not forget he had to drag Twitter, FB, and Amazon through the mud by referencing censorship. God forbid he let that one go for the good of the country, but he’s too selfish to keep quiet.

Exactly, after 4 years he finally listened to his advisors and read the script. I’m sure letting him mention social media censorship was the bargaining chip they had to use in negotiations with this fool to make a speech.
And.. why are we ignoring the fact that he won’t do a live briefing? He’s the president of the USA and he’s only been doing video messages. That’s so weird, he’s hiding from the people. What a freak.
It’s like what celebrities do when they are caught in a scandal, but, you know, he’s just the commander in chief.

Re: Trump's speech this evening
What if he DID make that speech last week and it STILL happened? Would you still blame him?
IMO, he should have spoken about violence last week before this, especially if they had intel that something might happen. but you will never be happy with anything he has done or said, anything he will do or say.
We can only hope this board is as busy with threads about all the things Biden and Harris will be doing for our country.

Exactly!
I bet that speech took 45 takes, no doubt they had to keep redoing it and editing it to make the lying lunatic sound sane for an entire 4 minutes.
Again, it's all FOUR YEARS too late.

He should have made that speech 4 years ago, and similar speeches for the next 4 years. Inciting violence for 4 years is not "presidential". You will never blame him for all of the carnage he has created, and all of the damage he has done.
We can only hope that after Jan 20, you defend Biden with the blind adoration that you defend the indefensible trump with.

He is in full CYA mode. Next Wednesday he is fully open to prosecution for all his crimes in and out of the office.

I. Cannot. Wait.
I hope he spends the rest of whatever pathetic life he has left either in jail or battling legal case after legal case trying to stay out of jail.

He never would have and he didn’t. Look at his behavior and patterns over the last 4 years. That doesn’t change over night. He is who he is. You can’t say “what if” anymore, because we gave him 4 years of what if’s, and waiting for him to be normal, and time and time again he has proved the masses wrong.
What if the serial killer didn’t kill that third person , what if we contained the virus when it was in China, what if they didn’t storm the capital and just stood there peacefully .. see how this all doesn’t matter. Very counterproductive to the actual root of the problem.
And right now Trump is the root of the current problem. Trim the fat and let’s be able to focus on the other issues within our government. He’s like a parasite to this country.

I am not defending, it was a question. It is obvious that even if he said this the day before, the week before, month, years, it would make no difference to many.

This is why most people on this board do not bother posting here. It is a shame as there are so many smart, educated people who could contribute and they are pushed away.

What are even talking about? Don't change the topic.
The fact is you make it a point to always defend Trump's actions and you avoid blaming him for everything.
