Trying hard with transitioning from bottle to sippy...

I feel like crying too, he is crying, hasn't had a bottle yet today but won't drink from his sippy. I know he can do it, he just loves his bottle. Then I will hold the sippy and show him and he drinks it but then when I put it down for him to do, he SCREAMS bloody murder!!

Just venting, thanks for listening!

Just like everything else, when they walk, crawl, sit up, potty train etc....it varies with every child and they do it when they are ready. So don't stress over this...let him have the bottle. Keep offering the sippy but if he isn't ready he will be soon.Chat Icon

He's 15 months in a few days...I've heard from so many that around a year you should try switching. Believe me, I know that is easier said than done. We've tried already quite a few times!! Thanks for listening and writing!

That's exactly my take on it! Don't worry, it'll happen eventually, you can't force him if he refuses. Maybe hold off for a little while and try again later. Also I really recommend bringing him around other kids who are drinking from sippy cups (peer pressure can be a good thing).

Chat Icon Don't stress! Chat Icon Sometimes it takes a few days of cold turkey and lots of whining Chat Icon Like I mentioned yesterday, we worked very slowly on cutting out one bottle per day. Keep working on that one bottle and give good distractions and offer the sippy.

Hang in there Chat Icon
