TTC after miscarriage?
Anyone TTC after a miscarriage?
Did they do any testing to determine why the miscarriage occurred?
Basically I had a "blighted ovum" (no heartbeat and no fetus) at my first sonogram (approximately 9 weeks) and had a D&C. They did a pathology report that returned "products of conception".
My Dr. never did a baseline HCG (?) test when I was pregnant which annoys me. They sent me for two after the sonogram to confirm the miscarriage.
We are trying again this month, but I am soooo nervous that the same thing could happen again.

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago. I did not need a D&C. I did not have any testing done. Since it was the first (and hopefully last ) time it happened, they told me it was probably a chromosomal issue. We saw the sac at 5w5d. I started spotting red at 6w3d. I went in for sono - there was no heartbeat and the sac had gotten smaller. There was blood in my uterus. I miscarried that night.
I had two HCG tests before the miscarriage - but I am under the care of an RE, so they always test two weeks after an IUI and then 2-3 days later to make sure the levels are doubling.
I have PCOS and don't ovulate my own, but it turns out I actually did ovulate after the miscarriage. So as soon as AF shows up we'll be starting a new cycle.
I am so scared it will keep happening over and over again.

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I had a natural miscarriage on 2/16. I was less than 6 weeks along. I had a sono where they checked everthing from my uterus to my ovaries & all looked normal. Other than that, they did no tests. Usually, if its your first m/c, they assume it's just a fluke (which it usually is).
It's normal to be scared. I'm scared, too. I really want to be pregnant, but I doubt I could handle another m/c.

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I've had 2 miscarriages in 4 months. They usually don't test a 1st miscarriage.
I had a D/C in december and they tested that fetus. They determined it to be a chromosome issue ( most common cause of miscarriages). I met with a genetics counselor, who suggested no further testing at this time.
I understand how you feel. I'm very nervous and haven't jump back into TTC. I'm thinking next month I will try.
Take your time, TTC when you are ready emotionally. You'll always be nervous now, but hope for the best! Miscarriages are common and most women go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I had an early m/c probably at 5 weeks or less. No need for a D & C. They told me to wait one cycle before trying. So I did and got pg the second month we tried. DD is now 6 months old. There was no need for testing, they think it may have been a chromosome disorder. No way to know for sure. I hope and pray it never happens again. I did get pg easily, and I am thankful for DD.

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I had a D&C at 9w on Feb 1st. AF came back the beginning of MArch. She's supposed to come pay another visit on Sat., but maybe she will take a vacation! I'm also nervous about another m/c. I don't think I can go through the whole D&C and emotional process again. Good luck to you ladies!

Re: TTC after miscarriage?
I had a missed miscarriage (baby does not expel naturally) so i required a D&C. They did test the fetus and my doc called me to tell me there was a chromosomal abnormality. There was an extra chromosome #4 - and while it sounds scary, he said it's actually really good news because the likelihood of it happening again is very low. He explained that this pregnancy was not viable from the very beginning and there was nothing i did to cause it - or could have done to prevent it (as is the case with most miscarriages). I totally understand the anxiety with TTC again. I worry about it happening again too - i think it's only natural to feel that way. Just try to stay positive and look at this as a fresh start and a new beginning for something wonderful. There was a reason my previous pregnancy did not succeed and am thankful that I am fortunate enough to be able to try again and that my cycle regulated itself immediately. Good luck to you! And to all the other girls TTC also!
