Re: Tub refinishing/reglazing
OMG!! My brother just did this last week. He used a guy that his friend used.
A green OLD tub came out gorgeous!!!! It cost $400 and the guy can match Kohler finishes (the toliet my bro put in).
I love it so much we are going to do our old BLUE 70s tub over and we may have hte guy glaze our whole tile walls (he does this too).

Re: Tub refinishing/reglazing
We used t's European Reglazing. The woman there is Annette. 516-932-8110. We had 2 tubs reglazed and they came out great. I believe it was $225 per tub. I didn't take a before pic - but it had disgusting old lady dirty sticker things all over the bottom and was just DISGUSTING altogether. Here is after:

Re: Tub refinishing/reglazing
I am so interested in doing this but I've heard that the new glaze doesn't last very long - anyone have any experience with this?

My sister (Laura08 in case you want to FM her) has had her tub reglazed twice in the past couple of years. She didn't have the best experience...the new glaze bubbled and peeled up.

Re: Tub refinishing/reglazing
We had our tub reglazed in our co-op and although it looked fantastic immediately after it was done, it did wear badly.
The glazing job was immaculate - no bubbles or scratches, but everytime you drop a shampoo bottle or scrub a spot it will leave a mark and the glaze isn't as shiny in that one spot. The worst part was that the glaze can get stains very easily! I was coloring my hair once and the hair color left streaky stains in the tub. I tried everything non-abrasive (you can't use abrasive cleaners in a refinished tub) and ultimately I had to let it wear down, nothing would remove it from the glaze, not even bleach.
If you are redoing your bathroom (retiling walls around tub) my BEST advice is to spend a little extra $ and get a new tub. It will last you 50 yrs ++ A reglazed tub will look good for 2-3 years max if you shower/bathe in it everyday.

Re: Tub refinishing/reglazing
I think it depends what your intentions are- we are not planning on staying in this house forever (only like 2-3 more years) and we did the reglazing to fit our new cabinets/floor in the bathroom as a quick fix. I agree, the glaze stains easily now and its only a year old. I wash the tub down often and it still has a ring around the tub after I give my son two or three baths. My dh and I agreed if we do have to stay where we are for awhile, we would redo the walls and tub anyway, so the quick fix was what we were after.

Yes, DH and I this done about 4 years ago. It looks beautiful and shiny when it is done. We used JMB reglazing too and they were great! Like my sister said, we did have to get it done two other times, b/c it bubbled and peeled up. I also find it very hard to clean the tub after it's been reglazed. Good luck! If you have any questions, please FM me!
