Tub vs. Shower in a Basement Bathroom
We are in the process of remodeling our basement bathroom. The space is rather small but currently, there is a small sink, toilet, standup shower and tall cabinet.
We are looking to tear out all fixtures and start from scratch... I prefer a stand up shower but my hubby prefers a tub. We already have a tub upstairs and we have never taken a bath in it. We always use it as a shower.
My friend was told by her contractor that tubs create more mold problems than showers in basements - anyone ever hear of this?
Also, in your opinion, what is better in a basement bathroom... a tub or shower?

I have never heard of that, but since you already have 1 tub in the house, I would opt for a shower in the basement. That's what we plan on doing when we do a bathroom in our basement. I don't see a reason for another tub.

I agree! If you already have 1 tub then just go for the shower.

we are adding a bathroom in our basement now, we will be having the tiling done soon. We already have a bathtub upstairs, so we are only putting in a shower. We do not see the need to have a tub in the basement unless it was going to be rented out. We had the space for one, but we are just making it a large shower.

we are adding a bathroom in our basement & we are planning a large shower stall. We already have two bathtubs in the house.
Our guest bedroom has a very small attached bath & we put a shower in there & it has been really great.
you can see in the pics how small it is

in a basement - shower only if the space is restricted. Only need one tub per house in my opinion.
