Tummy time
DS absolutely HATES tummy time. He smushes his face on the mat (or tries to eat it) lays there sucking his thumb or just be plain miserable. I try to give him time at least 5 minutes every other day. Is this enough? He does hold his head up and sits assisted. Hoe much tummy time is your DC getting???
Pic included for amuzement...lol

Re: Tummy time
ds is almost 10 months old and has hated tummy time with a passion since day 1!!!! He still hates it. He's never going to crawl because of it.

Re: Tummy time
You know, I remember reading in a few parenting magazines that babies love tummy time, so when my DS hated it, I thought something wasn't right. But then I read posts on here, and it sounded like most DCs don't like it in the beginning.
I put him on my stomach at some point, and he would push up to look at me. I also broke tummy time up into much shorter sessions, more often. When he got stronger and could push himself up and look around more, and then later when he could roll over, he liked it. But before that, no.

Re: Tummy time
DD dislikes tummy time too- I mentioned it to the doctor and he said to just try as much as I can, but most babies don't like it. He had other ways to check her muscle tone and if she was lifting her head/neck and he said she is doing wonderfully

Re: Tummy time
my dd hated tummy time so much that she figured out how to roll over by 7 1/2 weeks!! everytime we put her down now, she just rolls over instantly, so tummy time never lasts too long

Re: Tummy time
DS is not a fan of tummy time on the mat either, so DH & I make him do tummy time on us or propped up on a pillow.

Re: Tummy time
DS can last about 3 minutes, then he fusses. He's so close to rolling over (when he's on the couch or laying on us) but not on his mat. He does pull up and look around and move his hands out front so he's in crawling position (sorta). Hopefully he'll like it more and more.
