BTW Tupperware doesn't make its money on parties - they make it on recruiting. Anyone who tells you different is lying.

The consultants buy a lot of stuff too! Each new catalogue means a whole new set of stuff which cost $$$ (even with a discount).

I did tupperware very briefly, and found it to be a mind game from the top down.

I EFFING hate Tupperware ladies!!! Well - two at least.

So pushy - border-line harassment!!!

I will not EVER buy a piece of Tupperware again for two reasons - the quality is crap and pushy sales people!!

You knew that you could win a party and you did it anyway.. she extended the time... honor what you said you'd do and have a party. Esp. if your friend loses out because you can't hold up your end of a bargain.

I went to a tupperware party a few weeks ago and played that game and won a party. She actually booked mine right at that party. But i didn't try to make excuses about not booking because I was told, like you, that I might win a party and have to book it. I probably will only have 2 people come but at least I am not screwing over my friend.

I would have had a party if it was in the summer. If I knew it had to be within the next 3 weeks before hand I wouldnt have participated. I did book it the night of the party but The next week I got handed a huge project that needs to get done and thats why I tried to reschedule.

Out of all the thing that people sell like this I found the tupperware women were the pushiest (no offense to anyone). Ask the woman if you can do a catalog party instead. (Get a few people to order from the book, but don't have people at your house - that way your friend gets the free stuff) I don't think she can force you to have a party...

I dont know how Tupperware works, but with lia sophia you did need to have two parties booked in order for the hostess to get extra credits or whatever.

I had a party and no one booked one and I still got all my free things...

I don't understand the idea of winning a party. Aren't parties free to have?

parties are free to have.

the thing is they have this game they play (its a relatively newer idea) and the consultant announces first what the winnings will be... usually it's free items or you win a party.. which basically means you agree to book a party... its like a toss up game... either you win (an item) or the consultant wins (a booked party). It's almost like playing black jack (you win or the dealer wins).

the key element here is, the consultant states before the game what the possible "winnings" are... and one is a party so if you do not intend on following through or you don't want to have an actual party, please do not play this game. you have to be serious about having the party to participate in this one game. and those who don't want a party don't participate and it's totally fine. not a big deal at all. no one is really suckered into playing the game and it's not a trap; they are told the situation beforehand and they can absolutely opt out, no harm done.

The thing is, if you heard this in the beginning and decided to play full knowing there was a possibility you would "win" a party... then you took that chance upon yourself. don't play if you don't have real intentions of having a party. most of my guests at my candle party a few weeks ago didn't play, only like 3 people played (2 pple won an item, 1 won the party).

there are other games played as well that have nothing to do with hosting a party. this is just ONE of the games.

ETA: it's a good game to play if you KNOW you want to def book a party but also want a shot at a free item.

well of course.. you still get credits based on sales.

credits from a party booked are just another way to earn extra credits for more free stuff.

you don't ONLY earn credits based on parties booked. it's just a secondary way to earn more.

I went a Lia Sophia Party where they did the same thing & the consultant sort of rushed though the
"obligation" part and started handing out envelopes. I ended up "wining" a party.

At my party, 4 people won parties. I only needed 2 to book in order toe get to the next level of discounts, but they didn't know that. (I didn't really until later either.) I felt bad b/c my neighbor skipped out without buying things she was interested in b/c she didn't want to book the party she won. I think my other friend just get putting off her party & now my stuff is over & done with so it doesn't matter.

2 girls did end up having parties, but I also had to meet a certain $ amount to get the extra free stuff, so it didn't really matter. I felt bad that those ladies were under pressure & it didn't even make a difference to me in the end.

I don't know how Tupperware works exactly, but for Lia Sophia I got plenty of free & discounted stuff anyway.

I'm not a fan of all of them either

But I do like the partylite and the pampered chef ones aren't too bad.

The problem is that when you use words like"win" and "party," people could reasonably not understand that the "prize" isn't something that's ok to give back or pass up---and that you've actually lost--and now they feel like you owe them something.

What you're describing with the pressure tactics, harassment, and misleading language----IMO, you don't need to feel bad about anything.

It does not sound like you even understood what you were getting into. I, personally, refuse to give my money or time to people or groups who try to pressure or confuse me. I personally wouldn't spend a dollar or a second of my precious time on anything that made me feel guilty, trapped, or confused.

Re: Tupperware Party Pressure? Are they allowed to do this?

I guess I feel like if "I" am going to book a party it should be when I want to have it not when she wants me to have it...and since I cant do it when she wants me to should I be paying the price or my friend I should say. Again I knew what I was doing and I am not denying it. I just wasnt aware I had to do it within the next 3 weeks.

Again she never said if you win a party you have to have it within this timeframe.

Tell her to show you either in writing or a video recording of when it was stated that you HAD to have this party WITHIN the next 3 weeks. It's such B.S.

Did your friend know that part of her prize, or whatever it is that she may now lose, would be contingent upon whether one of her guests won and went ahead with their own party?

I would feel worse about my friend losing something than about the charlatan lady. I may not feel bad enough to go through with the party though. Chat Icon

you won a party... you didn't book a party.

I'd tell that person to go F themselves... and tell your friend 'dude sorry if you lose out on something but this woman is nuts.'

Re: Tupperware Party Pressure? Are they allowed to do this?

I currently sell Tupperware and I am vendor on this site.. I don't do that sort of game at my party it does put people on the spot. I feel people will have a party if they are interested in free or reduced products.

Many years ago I started my business I went to a Tupperware party and the same thing happened with me.. Life got crazy and I could not do my party with in the time frame the consultant wanted and she FLIPPED..... never again would I ever deal with someone like that and I also would not run my business like that. Tell her you are willing to do a book and an online party then and you will ask if anyone is interested in a party... Would you FM me her name I wonder if this is the same one I had issues with

Honestly, I'd tell the crazy rep that now, on principle, you won't buy any products because of the way you're being treated and clearly used for $$. I'd also tell her that I was reporting her to the company and maybe even to the BBB for being deceptive and rude.

Let her squirm and see that her tactics won't be rewarded.

I don't know... "winning" a party sounds about as lucky as being contacted by a nigerian prince. Chat Icon
