Turning 6 months and starting solids - need help....

So, Bella's turning 6 months and I decided to wait until then to start solids. I will be making sweet potatoes first Chat Icon

My question is this -

1. How much do I feed her since I'm making my own and don't have a pre packaged container?

2. What time of day do I start, breakfast, lunch or for dinner?

3. Do I feed her more than once?

Thanks!

Personally....I would start with 1 or 2 tablespoons to see how she likes it. And I would start with lunch...that way you can see if there are any reactions during the day. I would start with once a day for 3 days. If there are no problems...you can move onto 2x a day (lunch and dinner). You can also increase the amount by how hungry she is. Good luck!

Has she had cereal yet?

I tried it once at 4 months and it was a nightmare. She ate it like a champ, but it bound her up and gave her VERY bad gas back up (which she has issues with already). So she was MISERABLE all night long Chat Icon I never gave it to her again.

I would ask her doctor for suggestions....that's my plan at her 6 month visit, at least!
Lily has been having cereal for about a week now...and she loves it...maybe try cereal again with her now first? The oatmeal seems to be a real crowd pleaserChat Icon .
And, in talking to my sister...she suggested trying green veggies first....she said if they try sweet potatoes (or sweet foods) first, they sometimes don't want to eat the less sweet veggies after that. kind of makes sense!

And, I just have to say....6 months already!!!!Chat Icon

Since you are making your own food, I've read that one tablespoon is equal to one cube from an ice cube tray. A lot of people freeze the food and then pop out one, two, three, etc. squares and heat them up in the microwave.

Cereal isn't even necessary they are saying these days so I wouldn't even bother trying it again.

Good luck and post pics of her eating! Chat Icon

Seriously! Chat Icon Chat Icon

My sister gave me some storage cubes that she had, so I was planning on using them... so I guess I'll go by how much they are.

Oh I will post pics, you can bet on that! Chat Icon
