Re: Twins

I used to think that I would have LOVED to have twins. My friend has 3 week old twin boys and all she can say is how it is so much harder than she ever thought it could be. They haven't gotten more that an hour of sleep yet because someone is always up. I realize all babies are like this but now they have 2 bottles at every feeding, 2 diapers to change each time, etc. DH and I were jokingaround with them this past weekend that it was so nice of them to have 2 babies so we could share one with them Chat Icon Chat Icon I didn't feel like I was being a hog by holding a baby the whole day!
In reality though, my mom is a twin as are her younger sisters (both sets are fraternal).
Hey, what ever I get (as long as everyone is healthy), I will be very happy with Chat Icon

Re: Twins

My SIL has fraternal twin boys that are 10 years old....she also has a 17 year old boy, a 13 year old boy and a 16 year old girl - she runs the house like a tight ship...if I had twins I would have to lead by her example - if she could have 5 and not miss a beat I could do it too!

Although if I did have them Id rather have boys!

Re: Twins

Before having my son, I always wanted twins. But I don't think I can handle it unless I had a nanny or my mom living nearby. There are days when Nate refuses to take a nap and will just cry for no reason. I can't image having two babies crying at the same time.

They run in both sides of my family. My dad has fraternal twin brothers and they said that my mom was a twin but it didn't survive.

Re: Twins

I don't think I could ever deal with twins. My DH's best friend had twins about 2 months ago and his cousin had them a year ago. Talk about having your hands full!

The run in our families too. I think it would be a lot to handle, but I would be happy to have 2 kids.

Re: Twins

I have identical twins on both sides of my family. Mom had twin sisters; dad had twin brothers. I like the thought of the possibility of having them. It has got to be tremendously exhausting, though. If I were to have twins, I would want them first. Then I am done.Chat Icon

Since having my son... no I don't think I could handle having twins. I give those people tons of credit. I'm sure that the only way I could handle it would be if I had a nanny around!

I thought twins ran the mother's side?

Re: Twins

I would love to have twins, to get all the baby stuff out of the way and not have to go through potty training, etc. over and over.

Also, I think twins tend to have more of a bond and I would like it if my kids have that. All the sets of twins I have known in my life have been very close.

Plus, I am already 33. If I could be pg once, get it over with and have my family, I would do it.

Re: Twins

I would actually prefer twins. I have a couple of friends that are twins & I see how great their relationship is with their sibling.

DH & I both have multiple sets of twins on both sides of both of our families.

That was the case with a friend of mine too. He has a twin sister & they say their mom suspected twins ( I guess form the way they kicked or something), but they doctors only heard one heart beat & they didn't do sonograms.
She ended up havign a c-section & then they saw the 2 babies! Chat Icon

I always had this weird feeling I would have twins. It doesn't run in my family though.
I think I could handle it, beacuse, well, I'd have to.

It would be difficult when they are very tiny & DH was at work or something. What if they are both hungry & crying at the same time?
How do you chose?

And if you already have small child then have twins --wow.

Aww, you can do it! It is good that your son is a little older. At least he can dress himself & things like that. He should be able to help you out a little!

And it's never to early to teach him how to do laundry. His future wife will appreciate it! Chat Icon
