It's so heartbreaking. I can't even imagine what that mother is going through.
We have an above ground pool and I had the opportunity to enroll my 3 year old into ISR lessons which teaches self-rescue swim. Obviously nothing is foolproof but I feel a bit better knowing that in just a couple of weeks, my daughter will be able to know what to do if she ever falls in a pool. I urge anyone with a pool to enroll their child in ISR. It's so worth it.
What is that? More than say Safety Swim? Where do you go?
I just can't get over how many people are hindsight quarterbacks in situations like this. The commentary is appalling. Anyone who has endured a toddler knows how fast things can happen, never mind two! It's so cruel. I just keep thinking of that poor mom and the conversation she had to have with her husband. I don't know how you survive this but I am praying for them and their family.

This breaks my heart and the some of the comments are sick. This was just a terrible accident. This is one of the reasons my daughter has been in swim lessons since she was very young but even that doesn't make me feel comfortable with her in the pool unsupervised. Kids are ninjas and it only takes a quick second for them to get out.
Beyond terrible, and tragic, soo very sad! But, I can't help to wonder if the outcome would've been different had they put a fence around their pool.
we can all wonder the what ifs. They just moved in like 3 weeks ago is what I read. probably on their list to do b/c the pool was under renovation.
we all know that it literally takes a nano second to look away from toddlers (never mind two!) and have something happen. Im not sure how you even remotely recover from something like this.

Both babies were on the autism spectrum also. The hate filled comments on newday and news12 are horrifying.

If Newsday had an ounce of professionalism (which we all know it does not) it would disable the comments and remove the ones there. Disgusting

This poor family. I can't even imagine what it's going to take to get through this.
This is so important for them to know.
I remember seeing this years ago and thought it was such a smart idea.

This is so horrific and my heart breaks for this family. I am so disgusted at many of the vile and hateful things people have said online about this mother. I can't imagine what she is going though and will go through for the rest of her life.

Twins drown in parents pool
i read this yesterday and my jaw dropped. I can't imagine waking up and seeing that with my own eyes.
What exactly happened though? The husband left the house and didn't wake up his wife? I read a few different things. I wonder if maybe the husband left thinking his wife was awake. They must feel so guilty and ashamed on top of it all, especially with all of comments on these articles.

I just pray that they find the strength to go on and help and raise their 5 year old. This is a tough burden for anyone to live with. God Bless them all

I was wondering this too. I wonder if there was some miscommunication or something.

Maybe he left while they were all asleep? I commute into the city every day and leave at 6:40AM - everyone is sleeping when I leave. Assuming the kids woke up after he left and she was still sleeping?

Absolutely tragic Strange that they snuck out so young. They unlocked the door and left? Anything could have happened. They could have walked into the road or been kidnapped. I pray for the family.

I was so worked up about this I couldn't sleep last night. I was crying reading an article right before bed. DH was yelling at me not to read that stuff. Now I'm panicking about my own kids.

I know. I was having anxiety. We have a pool. It has a fence. DD knows how to swim now. She's 7 and you can reason with her unlike a 3 year old. But I kept drilling into her the other night that she NEVER goes near the pool without an adult right? I must have said that to her like 3 times the night after it happened. She was looking at me like I was nuts. Because she knows that. But I'm just so paranoid now
