Two questions on car seat inspection
I just made an appointment to get the car seat inspected. The gentleman advised me not to use the car seat mat underneath the seat because it would slid. Has anyone heard this before? I registered for one thinking it would damage my seat without one, but I don't want to risk my child's safety by using one.
Also, did anyone tip the person that did the inspection? I am not going to the police station as their dates did not work. I am going to the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board.

I just had mine done last week and we didnt use a car mat for either one. One car is leather interior and the other is cloth. I did tip the guy but he also came to my house to do the inspection..so that might make the difference.

I got one for DD#1 and used it for a bit, but it would make the car seat slide too much as anchored as it was. I also read recently that they are advised not to use anything under the car seats b/c of the safety issue.
ETA: I just got a new car with leather and put the mat underneath again, but had to take it out due to sliding and I have her seat anchored in 4 spots.

I don't use an under mat because of the safety issue.
I didn't tip, but I had it done through our local hospital.
