tylenol and teething help please

DS has been teething badly the past few days. i can see the teeth coming down but they haven't broken through yet.

he is FINE during the day, happy, normal chewing/drooling. he goes to bed easily. but then he wakes up in the middle of the night crying Chat Icon

i won't go in there because i know i will only make things worse by trying to soothe him but i feel SO bad. he woke up three times last night crying pretty hard.

if i give him tylenol before bed that won't last the whole night though, right? what else can i do? he seems to be in so much pain Chat Icon but only at night!

Re: tylenol and teething help please

DS is going through the same thing. He is all stuffed up, pulling at his ears and just miserable. I gave him motrin 2 nights ago but I'm trying not to give him too much unless he is really bad. I'm thinking about getting those teething tablets and see if they help. The worst part for him is the stuffy nose- he can't use the paci and breathe because he is too stuffy Chat Icon And I don't see any teeth yet, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

I use Hyland's Teething Tablets (homeopathic) ~ they disolve instantly ~ I try not to give DS tylenol unless he has a fever etc.

Teething tablets are wonderful, and the Vicks Plug ins are the only thing that keep Kristina breathing through the night....

Also a nice warm bath with J & J soothing vapors helps to open her up also.

Re: tylenol and teething help please

do i give him the tylenol/motrin/tablets when he wakes up in the night?

ETA: he is only a tiny bit stuffy and our cool mist humidifier takes care of that.

Re: tylenol and teething help please

I would give him Motrin right before bed and that should def. last throughout the night. When Jack was teething BAD I only gave Motrin...that stuff works wonders!

i would give him the motrin before he goes to sleep.... it works for 6-8 hours, and my Kristina sleeps for 12-13 hours, and it tides her over til the AM!

I think you give the tablets regularly for them to be effective??

I'm going to get a cool mist humidifier too, hopefully that will help him out.

Hey LB try elevating his mattress too, that helps DS! WHen he's lying flat on his back the blood will "pool" more, increasing the throbbing. ELevating the mattress seems to help DS on those bad teething nights!!! Chat Icon

Re: tylenol and teething help please

I would only give her tylenol if she woke up. I didn't want to give it before she goes to bed incase she didn't need it that night and give it to her for know reason kwim?

With that being said, I swear she KNOWS from the Flavor that she will feel better! The instant I give it to her, she rolls on her side and goes to sleep.

My DH thinks I am crazy but I have given it to her 5-8 times so far and each time she only calms down right after I give it to her

ok i was going to say the same thing... DS has totally done that in the past! but i didn't know if it was all in my head. when he was teething last time he would get super fussy at night but as soon as i gave it to him he calmed down.
