UFT maternity leave
I'm so confused and my payroll secretary is no help. I'm due Oct 28th with twins but the doctor said I will have them much sooner probably end of september. Is it possible to take a restoration of health leave or pregnancy related disability leave now until I have them and then do fmla once they are born. I am not returning in September either way because I am on modified bed rest. If anyone has gone through this and can help I will really appreciate it. Thanks! :)

I've gone through it .
Have you used all of your days in your bank? Can you or do you want to borrow sick days (you can borrow up to 20)..you don't have to do this.
If you have exhausted all of your sick days then you then go on grace period where you get paid for weekends and holidays. I think after this on went on FMLA.
After grace period is over you have to wait a period of time before you can go on a disability leave and get paid a small amount through the UFT.
Has your secretary sent you all the necessary paper work?
I was due in December '09 with twins but was on bedrest the entire summer and could not return to work. I had to get doctors notes and my doctor also had to fill out paper work from the DOE.
