Ugh, I am in such trouble re: naptime & b-day party
When I started planning DD's 2nd b-day party, she was going down for a nap around 12:30 and napping no longer than 1.5 hours. So I made the party start at 2pm.
Now, for the last 6 weeks or so, she's not going IN until 1:30 or 2:00pm and is sleeping for almost 3 hours at home I am soooooo screwed for her party on Sunday, aren't I??
I can definitely try to get her down starting around noon or so, but if she's not tired, she won't sleep. And if she skips a nap, she gets such bags under her eyes since she's so pale, and that just won't be cute in pictures
ETA: Oh, and of course her fuse is super-short when she hasn't napped, so it could be interesting

Can you try waking her up an hour or so earlier than usual that day?
You might end up with a cranky little girl in the morning, but it might ensure that she will nap earlier that day.
And try to wear her out as much as possible in the AM?
As for the bags, isn't that what photoshop is for?

I was considering trying to wake her earlier too-- I just may try that!
about the Photoshop, very true though! I just edited my post to reflect her short fuse if she skips a nap too

I would try the wake up early thing too.
If it doesn't work, it's her party and she cry if she wants to!

Ok - here's my opinion.
Let her sleep, start the party without her, and then when she wakes up she will be happy.
We were at my nieces party last weekend, at 2:30 when we all got there she said that she was tired (and was super cranky) and asked to take a nap. She slept for about an hour and woke up, and had a great time.
In all honesty, it may be easier for you to set things up while she is still sleeping. Maybe you will even be able to eat some food - GASP -- could you imagine?!

ITA also. If she's cranky, no one (including you) will enjoy the day. Try getting her up and putting her down a ltitle earlier this week--maybe by the time the party rolls around she will adjust. But if she doesn't, just let her sleep and explain to people.

Thanks everyone, I will try. Our house is so tiny that she will definitely hear people starting to arrive, even if they go right outside (we have a ranch and her room is in the back, where the party will be). I'll definitely try it and definitely won't wake her if she's sleeping to attend the party, that gets downright ugly

I've already come to terms with the fact that DD won't be taking a nap on her birthday. I'm sure they'll both be FINE amidst all the excitement.
