Ugh. I don't know how to explain to my husband...
how to tell when Ava needs a nap in the afternoon. To ME, it's so obvious, and I try to point it out to him when we're home together on the weekends, and he just says, "Yeah, I KNOW, ok?" I don't think that it's coincidence that during the week, she takes a 20 minute nap in the afternoon with him, but on the weekends, takes a 2 hour nap with me. AND, all this BS I've been going through with her at bedtime with the screaming and carrying on, it's a direct result of his inability to put her down for a nap. She gets overtired and then freaks out at bedtime, but he SWEARS he knows his daughter and she just doesn't like to nap on the weekdays So, today, I let him be in charge of the nap taking, and I tried to point out when she was tired, he put her down for a nap, then went in and got her and said, "No, she's not tired," when CLEARLY she needed a nap, and guess what, she's freaking the F out again tonight in her crib. Last night and the night before she went right down to bed because, oh, wait, what's that? She took a nap! So, I said to him just now, "Do you see? Do you see what happens after she has no nap in the afternoon? You leave me to deal with her tantrums because you are too stubborn to listen to me about her afternoon nap." And he was just like, "Oh well." I am ready to smack him.

looks like the man needs to see it in writing that it's harder for a child to go to sleep and STAY asleep when they are overtired!!!
Find a book that states that and SHOW him.
Freakin' men...they swear they know it all.

He should just lay her down and she will take it from there. Kids will fall asleep if layed down at the same time each day. I did that with my kids and my dh and I knew the time they took a nap and just went from there.

Re: Ugh. I don't know how to explain to my husband...
This is funny to me because my DH watches our son 2 days during the week and the baby naps for 2-3 hours for him. On the weekends with me, he will not sleep for more than an hour. Today he finally took a nap at 4pm, I started noticing he needed a nap at 12

Re: Ugh. I don't know how to explain to my husband...
I guess part of the problem with Ava is that you can't go by the clock with her for her naps. Somedays she's ready for a nap at 9am, other's she doesn't go down till 11am in the morning. Then, some afternoons it's at 2pm and others at 4pm. But if you watch her, you can clearly see she needs a nap. So, I told him that I want him to guesstimate tomorrow what time she needs a nap and then start putting her down 15 minutes before that. We shall see. He must of felt bad about it because he MADE DINNER tonight! AND then he brought it to me on the couch!

OMG I have the same problem with my DH. When he's with me, he naps like a champion. When DH watches him, it's so iffy. Either he'll take his normal naps or he'll take much shorter ones. I feel like I can tell when he's tired, whereas DH just keeps him going and going. MEN!!

It did, luckily, while JT cannot get her to nap, he's great at soothing her to bed at night And I was able to get home by 4pm today and I put her right in her crib for a nap. Not a peep, she just conked right out for an hour and a half. So, wish me luck tonight with a smoothe bedtime.
