Ugh... My mother is losing her MIND!

My mom found a dog that was left at a local supermarket and was there for days (according to a manager in the store).

She took the dog, brought it to a vet, and found that it has a microchip. They got the owner's information, and tried to call but the number is disconnected.

My mother, intelligent woman that she USED to be, is going to drive out to the woman's house tomorrow and ask her why she abandoned her dog! I told her that she's nuts, and these people probably didn't want it and to just let it be. She said that she thinks it's horrible how they left the dog like that, and she wants to go and talk to them.

Am I wrong for thinking my mother is being a complete MORON for approaching a stranger's house to ask why they abandoned their dog?

I think she's getting DUMBER with age!

I wouldn't let my mother go to some strangers house like that. Of course there is probably no way i could stop seeing as how she is the mom. But with all the nuts out there no way! They obviously didn't want the dog. How can people just do that. I have a Pomeranian at my parents house. I worked at a pet store in the mall years ago. Someone just let the dog go in the mall and security brought it to me at the store. I did everything i could to find the owner. Do we kept her. How can people just leave their dog like that. GRRR!!!!!

Can she call the ASPCA? See if they can do anything?
