Ugh...C-Section incisional pain - long
I gave birth to my DS last Monday and was released from the hospital on Thursday. This is my second DC and I had a C-section with both kids. With my first DS, the recovery was rough but I was able to function after a week or so. My parents convinced us to get a baby nurse and that was a tremendous help.
This time around, I am still in so much pain. I was given a Darvocet script (pain killer med) when I was released from the hospital and it definitely helps. However, the incisional pain is still unbearable without any meds at all. I feel completely helpless and just want to be able to function again, especially without meds. I am nursing DS#2 and still trying to be there for DS#1. My husband is a huge help and we also have a baby nurse for 2 weeks. I don't know what I would do without them.
I feel so incredibly guilty that I cannot be there 100 percent for everyone. I was trying to be super mom up until today and I think I'm making my recovery worse. My DH is essentially forcing me to rest but it is hard. For those that have had this procedure twice, please tell me I will feel better soon. I get my staples out on Monday and will let my OB know. I hope it will take away some of the discomfort I am feeling.

First of all, I think its amazing that you are taking care of 2 kids post c-section. I had a hard enough time taking care of my one. Cut yourself some slack!!!!! Take care of yourself or you will be of no use to anyone else. I know that sounds cliche but its so true. Let the baby nurse and DH help and don't feel guilty about it.
Is it red around your staples? I don't want to scare you, but mine got infected. It was red and puffy and needed to be drained at the OB's office. I was then put on 3 antibiotics and had my wound packed and cleaned every other day. a visiting nurse came to me. I don't want to scare you, but if this is what you have, know that there is a reason, and its treatable, and you'll be yourself again after a week.
Sorry you are in pain and hope you feel better! Another thing I was told to do was take motrin in between doses of prescription pain meds. It helped.

Thank you . Regarding the infection, I was wondering about this also. It does look red and puffy in some places but not to the point that I was concerned. I see my doc on Monday but if the pain/swelling gets worse , I will call the office emergency line.
