I think the SD law is just awful. I appreciate the argument that abortion should not be used purely as a method of birth control, but please tell me that the state of SD is prepared to take care of the children that are delivered all the way through college. I mean feed, cloath, educate, everything. I don't see those programs in place and I don't see people lining up to pay for them either. That is a big travesty, telling a woman she has to deliver a child but then leave her helpless to care for it. That is a bigger problem.

I also have a big problem that there is barely an exception for the life of the mother and no exception for rape or incest.

I feel like all of these men will never have the ability to carry a child to term, yet all of them have the potential to be a rapist or do that to their own daughters/granddaughters/neices and yet they can legislate whether a woman can have an abortion. To me, that is complete injustice.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, pro-choice or not but I firmly believe that you cannot legislate reproduction.

And with the SD abortion ban, will they provide sex education and access to condoms? Will they care more for those children who are already living in poverty or suffering from abuse? How can a party claim to care about a zygote than children who are LIVING and being abused?

Just my two cents.

A totally agree.
ironic that the same hard-line right-wingers that want abortion illegal REDUCE spending on social services.
So they MAKE you have the kid- but if you need help -too bad.

Let me see them spend the money on education, on programs for children who most likely will wind up in a situation where she feels she'll need an abortion.
