ultrascreen evaluation: to scan or not to scan?
Hi all I am scheduled for my NT or ultrsascreen evaluation nxt week (13wk1day) and I am wondering if anyone has opted not to do it.... I did not do any genetic testing with my DS (natural pregnancy) I am now pregnant with twins thru IVF. I am afraid of the false pos. I would never terminate and will not do the amnio....any thoughts??? Thanks

I chose not to do it and had the same feelings as you. I am also pregnant from ivf with twins and my obgyn said there are more false results on the positive and negative result end then with singletons. I didnt do it with my son either.

Re: ultrascreen evaluation: to scan or not to scan?
i honestly didnt know you had a choice to not do it until i read about it on here! I personally wouldnt have terminated my pregnancy only based on the NT results. I have had 2 friends tell me they got bad news from the NT scan but then after getting back blood work or doing an amnio they found out everything was ok. It was tough on them to go through that stress of not knowing. So i understand why you wouldnt want to do it.
I loved seeing them though! it was the first time i was actually able to see them look like little babies and to see them on a big screen was great.

Re: ultrascreen evaluation: to scan or not to scan?
I just had it and I had gone in there prepared, knowing there are many false positives. I already knew I wouldn't be making any decisions based it the result.
I was happy to see the little peanut and fortunately, the results indicated low risk.
If you are well informed, I don't see the harm in having one done.
